yup those look like the fish we were catching , except they were a little bigger than that one, pretty fat too, put up a nice fight for a small fish, lotsa cartwheels

How much bigger were they? The one shown above is average, they may get slightly bigger than that but that's it. If you are catching them much bigger than that, then it maybe this:
Northern Pikeminnow

i guess it was northern pike minnow we were catching, saw a guy keeping them, are they any good to eat?
Rodney:
Not too great to eat, as they are fairly bony. If you don't mind the bone, they can be pretty good. Wait until July and August, you can catch them up to 4lb down here. Great fun on light tackle.
