Pavilion Lake - anybody here fished it?
« on: December 15, 2015, 09:30:42 AM »

Got a couple of buddies going up to Pavilion Lake for the weekend. It's not frozen yet so just going to fish from the shore. Wondering what gear, techniques, bait are recommended for this time of year.

Any tips?

I've always wanted to check this lake out. the research says the fish are small, and the lake very clear.  though I wanted to personally check it out in the summer.

it's also one of the few places on earth (only 2 i think) where there is fresh water coral alive and well.  I think NASA has a research station there..... if were talking about the same pavilion lake.

The fish used to be quite large but fishing was challenging, at least in the spring.  I haven't been there in a long time and things change.

Lake is next to highway & shore is a little steep / rocky.
Water is super clear & so are other lakes in the general area.
There's a little general store & bought a really nice leather wallet with exterior design made by the local natives. There's a few native reservations in that area.
Wonder how trolling would work or using various methods from a row boat.
( wood boat less noise )

Friend owns a cabin on that lake. He's not much of a fisherman but his in laws troll the lake with a car topper. Just with those divers, willow leaves, wedding bands, along those lines of gear. They catch bows, nothing very big though.

If you head east to the next lake - Crown Lake there is a BIG rock on backside of lake to easily cast from. Access is easy. The next lake over from there is Turquise Lake. Need a boat/ Tube to fish it though.

Crown and Turquoise are both frozen, but not enough for ice fishing...

Never fished Pavillion, and to the person referencing the Pavillion store, it burned down years ago.

I used to fish Crown and Turquoise about 15 years ago ... back then the fish were up to 7 lbs.  Perfect float tube lakes.
