Title: How are you going to fight “man made global warming”?
Post by: Fatso on March 05, 2019, 01:41:51 PM
So what are you gonna do to thwart man made climate warming?

Anything?  :)

Me too.

I make my own fishing lures out of old metal spoons.  The bulltrout just love them.  Saves me a lot of $$$ too.

Cmon people!  What other great ideas are you able to share with us to help battle man made climate change and make this world a cooler place? 😎

We are small cogs in a very big wheel. I have been doing my part for a long time including getting a Masters in Environment and Management where I studied this crisis in detail. The real science not the junk science. Sorry to be the messenger but We are already screwed, it is only a matter of how fast and how bad. People should do whatever they can to be on the positive side but it all comes down to how society approaches energy in the next 10 years. The move to renewables is too slow. We are burning more coal every year not less and expanding the oil sector. Experts like Mark Jacquard at SFU say we need to reduce this stuff by half in 10 years and we are going in the opposite direction. I have given up over and out.

Maybe we should start protesting the shipping US thermal coal from Port Metro Vancouver's Deltaport.

Don't tell that to the idiot in the White House.

"Climate Alarmists" That's rich.
When people do, the nut jobs say "Climate change is a hoax stop taxing me".
As someone who enjoys the outdoors why wouldn't you want to reduce severe weather patterns, hurricanes, tornadoes...

--many people have great ideas about what I should give up...I just do what I can as a small cog. I just try to reduce my footprint or at least hold the line on what when and where I consume resources and work toward sustainable equilibrium. Pointing a finger is not helpful. If the only heat source is oil in the area that I live in...I have to use it until I can find an alternative. I can move to the most efficient burner available and drop the temp down, wear a sweater but I can't lower it to the point where I burst the water pipes. We need viable alternatives...people will change if they have an opportunity to do better.
-I live in an area where I cannot now burn the prunings from the trees on my property...I live next door to an Orchard...a commercial enterprise that can burn all of their prunings. I have to load mine up into a gas-fired truck and transport them to a landfill where they are mulched...they used to burn them but have changed that. Of course, I couldn't see across the street for most of the summer due to wildfires.
--Really we consume to live so the only real way to reduce consumption to a sustainable level is to reduce or right size the human population and distribution.

....if you think about it this an actually brilliant suggestion.  If you lower your body temperature you can cool the world around you.  So in your own little way you are saving the world by staying cool.

Ice cream for everyone !!!

I will have a triple scoop of Island Farms bubblegum ice cream please. 🤣

the real problem is consumption and by far most of the consumption that harms the planet and creates climate harming CO2 happens in the well-off developed. world. While it is important to reduce population growth, that is not the main cause of climate change.

Ralph: While it is important to reduce population growth, that is not the main cause of climate change.

.... correct.... let’s not forget there’s also sun spot activity, and volcanic activity both above ground and undersea.

And let’s not forget eating ice cream is helping to cool the climate.   8)

Every January I make a plan to donate money to a different worthy cause every month. I aim to include organizations that support the community and the environment. This year's environmental donations are going to Ecojustice, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and Langley Environmental Partners Society.

It's easy to feel like there's nothing we can do in the face of such large problems but putting your money where your mouth is is a good place to start :P

Hi, very good but how does donating money have an affect on cooling the climate?

According to the Climate Alarmists, Global Warming is man made.  It is supposedley caused by our behaviour.  So wouldnt it make sense to change your behaviour in order to fight Global Warming?  :)

Because if all we had to do was donate money to these groups it would all be so simple, no?

Take a look at the groups' mission statements and current projects to get an idea of what they're up to, especially Ecojustice's current cases. Money = power.

I'm not interested in debating whether climate change is (a) real, or (b) the result of human activities.

Ecojustice wouldn't be my first choice, they have huge corporate sponsors and really don't need help from the little guy.

Huge corporate sponsors? ROTFLMAO! Let's not mention that Viviane Krause is funded by "huge corporations".

Another good idea you'd be able to do is to get your workplace to go green. Workplaces use a lot of energy if left on over night, or they use a lot of styrofoam cups. Maybe they don't even recycle. So go to management and ask, it won't hurt.

Those of us that have worked in the trades know just how much crap is just thrown away. Honestly anything can be thrown in a hole in the ground for a price. Bin after bin. 100's of giant bins a day full of paint, chemicals, toxic metals and other crap is taken away from work sites daily and the city wont take my garbage if I leave a single can in my trash.

Yeah, evrything is so disposable because its convenient and cheap.  One day they may ban take out containers.  That would go a long way to reducing landfill material and litter.

Maybe we should be carrying our own ceramic reuseable cup and other reuseable eating utensils?

Would that help?  :)

Edited to add:

And maybe the price of building materials is relatively so cheap that its cheaper to throw unwanted material away rather than repurpose or recycle.  The waste is truly a shame.

Why dont we all point out the fact that Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines and other south Asains countries are the reason why theres so much plastic and pollution in our Pacific Ocean. The environmental groups want people in North America to make drastic or sometimes unrealistic changes in their day to lives. Oh what's that? Another raise in the carbon tax ? No straws ? No plastic bags ? What about the worlds biggest polluters?

The weather is just beautiful all of a sudden.
Fantastic!!

Maybe the carbon taxes should be higher?

I dont think the carbon taxes are working yet.  ;D

Could you possibly be so ignorant to think that human pollution doesn't affect the environment?
Do you understand that global warming does not mean that it will be warmer in every place on the planet at the same time?
Do you understand that human caused global warming produces climate change that makes droughts, floods, tornadoes, bomb cyclones, wildfires, algae blooms, species extinction, etc?
Is this thread just a troll?
