Side Branch from Nov 21 Report - River Location
« on: November 22, 2004, 08:22:09 PM »

I remember people getting after one another for not sharing information on the general area of the river someone was fishing. Have we now got so vague as to not even mention what river a report is posted about? I'm done salmon fishing for this season but am still interested in other's success and where they are finding it.

I have nothing against not telling the river myself. I mean there's been a few times that I did and the next thing I know there's a guy there with his whole family!!

Another thing: The way I see it, mysteries are also good things. What fun would fishing be if there are no surprises. :) If specific directions to spots are given, then it would be rather boring. When telling people about the Vedder etc, I generally just mention lower or mid, leaving the rest of the seeking as part of the fishing game. :)

The purpose of leaving out the name of this particular stream, is primarily self-interest, but also to prevent lurkers who may intentionally poach to spoil it for the rest of us.

Personally I don't care if Rod doesn't want to tell me or any of us where he was fishing. I do get slightly annoyed though that in the past it has been mentioned by him that this is a report section and not a bragging section when other have not said what location they are fishing.

Seperate rules Fishin Freak. I guess you'll have to get your own site to moderate. I wonder how long it takes for this message of mine to get deleted. >:(

I do not know why there are anti-family sentiments with regards to fishing.  People are just out to enjoy themselve and maybe catch some fish.  Sometimes people make it sounds like its against the rules or something to bring family members along when one goes fishing.  What's up with that?
