A brief but successful outing on the Vedder...... February 27th
« on: February 27, 2006, 02:01:32 PM »

The alarm sounding at 5:30 am on Sunday morning was like music to my ears; however, I cannot say the same for my smarter-half, she Knows that I am crazy but I think she understands.

As I walk up to one of my new haunts at 6:45 am, I see three angler already settled in and one fellow who is playing a fish.  As I approach, they are in the process of releasing a prize.  Things looked promising and the weather was better than the day before.

After some 45 minutes of poking around; I was walking between two nice runs while allowing my offering to drift below me in some shallow rapids.  Half way down the run, my float disappears to what I believe was a snag but instead I am pleasantly surprised by the solid tugging and headshakes....fish on!

After playing the fish for 5 minutes while wading back across the flow; I manage to beach a hatchery doe; not big (8 lbs 12 oz) but I am delighted as I don't catch many.  Some fresh fish for the ones who wait at home and some new roe to replenish my dwindling supply.

On my way out, I run into Chris (of Maple Leaf Drenan float fame), I introduce myself and we chatted for a bit; an added bonus to my day.

Tight Lines and have fun,

SNAFU

i wish i had a few brief days fishing...i think it would be a lot more fun watching your buddies fish and drink coffee with a nice prize like that under my belt then to work it all day and come home empty handed 'again'...good job and nice catch..

Nice fish Snafu. ;)

The key to them short fishing days is to get home and back into bed before the wife wakes up and then tell her that you decided to stay home and spend the day with her instead. ;D
