Thinking of heading up to the Vedder with a #4 weight on Thursday to try for some cutties. Any suggestions as to best place to fish.

To be honest, I don't think I have ever had any incidental or targeted cutties on the Vedder for the past 25 plus years fishing it. Mostly, bows and dollies. There's probably the odd stray searun, but not enough to target. Maybe, I'm wrong? Most of the incidentals I have encountered have been in the upper river in larger deeper runs like 'bad boy camp'. I think you might have a better chance of cutties in the Stave or Chehalis.

never came across a Cutty in the the vedder, But quite a few in the Chehalis.

I'd go to Nicomen slough... slower flows make it much easier as well

A browse through the fish stocking database (http://a100.gov.bc.ca/pub/fidq/stockedSpeciesSelect.do) would reveal why other watersheds in the Lower Fraser are more productive than Chilliwack River for cutthroat trout fishing. Hatchery marked anadromous cutthroat trout are released at smolt stage in Chehalis River, Harrison River, Nicomen Slough and Stave River while no stockings are done on the Chilliwack River.
