Tradex Fishing and Hunting show
« on: March 05, 2016, 08:53:17 PM »

How's the outdoor show going? I'm not able to attend. Is there lots of good booths to visit and deals to be had? Are the big names in our local fishing world there?

Saw Merc has some pretty good deals on their kicker motors.
Steveston Marine has some deals on Mustang auto and manual inflate vests.
Of corse all the usual dealer incentives on big ticket items.
Nice camo flat bottom sled that caught my eye with a 60/40 jet (maybe 40/30 can't recall now) that had rediculously low bi weekly payments, like $38 biweekly or something like that for the rest of your life....
Sooooo tempting such easy payments.

Was also a Vegan booth there selling what looked like dried soups in a bag or something like that. Thought she was a little out of place at a sportsman show but to each is own.

Vegan booth! Now that's different. Lol. Do they still have the trout pond for kids?

Yes they do, there was also a little archery setup for the kids outdoors under cover. I think they were foam tip arrows or something it was close range. Good to see stuff like that for the kids I wish there was more stuff there for kids as well.

Picked up a cheap 5wt Fenwick combo with Pfluger reel for $40 off to make it worth the gas :)

Exactly the reason why I don't attend those shows anymore. Used to buy stuff I don't really need only to 'justify' the cost of driving out and the tickets. Sometimes the temptation is simply too much.  ::)

Mariko was indeed there. Nice case of old pins to check out, plus meeting John Milner was pretty cool. Picked up a pair of Simms wading boots for $110 bucks which was nice. Hub Sporting Goods had some great deals on Simms waders, jackets and boots. Felt like a baby in a big candy shop. Few TV show hosts, Todd Oishi giving some nymphing presentation and a few familiar faces made it a nice stop after doing a little fishing.

met brendan morrison from sportfishing adventures at his booth. Talked a bit about the West Coast Express line he was a part of with naslund and bertuzzi. His show is not bad either....Freds location was overrun with customers when i was there...and Mariko looked stunning as usual. ArmyNavy was also very busy...good deals on reels and gear.

Yeah Fred was there. Was great talking to Vic from STS too. Mike Mitchell from BC Outdoors was also around along with Kevin Estrada from Sturgeon Slayers.
