I use a bearing CP and have gone about a year since I have oiled or greased my reel, she still spins like new, it's my only CP reel and gets used alot.  Just clean and wipe it down after a few trips, and try to keep it out of the water.  A few dudes I fish with use bushing reels and do the same thing, just a wipe down every couple trips, and a drop of oil on the bushing.  X2, Youtube it...

Take the spool off, use a couple of ear buds or some rolled up tissue to clean out the inside of the bushing, clean the spindle (pin) and then apply a couple of drops to the spindle and put the spool back on and you should be good to go.

Oil it infrequently, just wear the bushing in until its nice smooth.

Q-tip works well on inside of bushing.
