~~~Regulation Contradictions~~~
« on: March 27, 2005, 10:59:51 AM »
In the 2003-2005 Tidal Water Sport Fishing Guide (The Salmon supplement) it states on page six in the points to remember section the "There are no limit to the number of fishing rods a licensed angler may use in tidal waters" I take "Tidal waters" as downstream of the Mission bridge in the Fraser river.
 Then on page 45, "Area 29" Fraser River Tidal Waters
Gear permitted: One line per angler only, single hook only;bar rig; barbless hook
 Then on page 56; STURGEON If fishing for sturgeon, an angler may only use one line, and must release any sturgeon caught.
 I think you have to be a mind reader to understand the regs now. :o
 They have to be more specific when writing these regs. What do you think?
Have to agree with you Randy. Confusing at the best of times.
I agree, sometimes it's hard to comprehend the regulations because there's contradictions, as you said Randy.
One regulation can easily supercede another-such is the case in closures.
Also the final word is the complete regulations not that tiny booklet.
The specific regional regulations overwrite the general regulations.
So.... with the exception of tidal Fraser, does that mean an angler alone on a boat in the ocean can use as many rods as he or she wants at once?
Yes.  There are no restrictions on the number of rods in salt water.  There used to be, but no more.  I think the regs are clear and not confusing in this regard.  The tidal Fraser is specified as one rod per angler etc.
