Make and model of this reel?
(sorry for bad image quality. Saw it on April Vokey's Shorelines TV show and snapped a pic off the TV lol)

Would be better if you got a pic of the face of the reel not the back.
-
They only showed a shot from this angle lol

obviously it wasn't a reel April fished herself. Think she has only used Hardy's so far on the show. I've seen a Bougle and a Marquis from memory so far

Yeah, it was fished by a guide in New Brunswick. April was using a Hardy Perfect in this week's episode.

a bit of a topic mutation but so far I have found the show a bit disappointing.
-
me too. with all the hype online and commercials :( ..... I've fallen asleep to it.
wish they would shoot more episodes of fly nation.

Most fishing shows are disappointing.

"50 places to fly fish before you die" is one that i enjoy. April's show has too much talking lol

I agree and disagree. Her first episode was good, second lacked a little and the third one was, well, not good at all and quite boring. I'm sure we'll get more pumped when she gets out west and starts getting steelhead instead of NOT catching atlantics ???

as far as all 3:
little or no discussion about differences between Great Lakes, Pacific Coast and East Coast. Why might they be different? The life cycles of the 3 fish are quite different yet they don't talk about it.
limited discussion about flies and techniques
too much time spent on 'talking heads' - cheap and easy to film
too much gratuitous footage of April reading old Salmon fishing booking while reclining steam side reading a supposedly old timers Atlantic Salmon fishing book vs little talk about what the books said and what it may mean today.
She did much better in the Fly Nation episodes I watched - most without her where pretty kitschy and shallow
I hope her book matches the promise of those and her ambitions for it.
However it's not so bad as I make it sound - I just hoped for better.
I know the Miramichi runs are not doing well lately but there are other places to go - Newfoundland, the Restigouche or Gaspe for example so it could be episode 3 is just because that river has problems. Hopefully we see some good steelhead footage.
She certainly casts better than many of us!

I have that Snowbee Geo 910 reel that I have loaded with Skagit lines for use with my switch rods. Love it.

If you want to hear some of her personal thoughts of the series and the relationship with WFN, she talks about it with Peter Morse on her episode #2 of her "Anchored - with April Vokey" podcast. Skip to the 33:15 minute mark where she was told to "dumb it down" by the network. Not defending, just providing more info ;)
-
thats unfortunate. nothing should be dumbed down. ever.
this last episode was a bit better. and like other members said, hopefully it gets a bit better when the series moves out west.
-
Episode 4 at least she is back here on the West Coast hunting for big northern Steelhead ;D
