Allouette River

With the day of no rain I planned a trip to the Allouette for tomorrow.

I see now that it's raining again and is supposed to rain until the morning. I am wondering what the river condition has been like? I have been to most of the other north side flows in the last few days and all but the stave was blown out.

Am I wasting my time tomorrow? Should I get some extra sleep? Any info would be much appreciated.

No time fishing is wasted, you always learn something new about the river. I can't speak for that river as I don't fish it.

Stopped by there today. Went to three areas and didn't even bother pulling the rod out. The river was higher, dirtier and faster than I have seen it all year.

So I guess what I gain from the water levels is that the river can rise and drop fast during weather changes.

I am going anyways as usual. The addiction is just to much, even if I know my chances are slim to none.

no matter how blown out a river is there is always clear water somewhere  ;)

valuable lesson I learned this year that got me into a lot of fish.

 ALERT: BC Hydro to Release Water from Alouette Dam on Friday, November 28
Due to the high rainfall amount in recent weeks and forecasts of more rains in the upcoming weather forecast window, BC Hydro has alerted the City of Maple Ridge that they will be doing a controlled release of water into the South Alouette River starting at approximately 11:00 am on Friday, November 28, 2014

This will be the highest water level we have seen on the river in several years. In lay terms, the release of 42.5 cubic meters per second will cause a water level rise of two to three feet in the Hot Rocks area.

Plus
SAR is asking people to avoid some rivers in the valley this week due to the rain already~

Yeah someone came and told us the dam opened at 11. Kinda got lucky I guess.

Water level and clarity was good before 11 though. Didn't see one fish in 3 hours on 5 different spots.

Its too bad they cant get there numbers together.
Most of the year the river is dangerously low and then after the fall rains they panic and open the flood gates to the point there are many eggs left high and dry 30 feet away from the nearest water after they get flushed off the redds by the tsunami.

It really is one of my pet peeves and I know they have a minimum level now which is a good thing but come on.
Its not like fall and winter rains are like a big surprise around here and if anything you can count on it like clockwork over here on the northside.
