Do not know if this should be under coarse fish. :-\
Anyway, are going fishing for northern pike minnows in Cultus lake tomorrow.
Salmon biologists are trying to determine how many of these guys are in Cultus Lake.
About 1,000 are hoped to be tagged and then on the derby sponsored by the Fraser Valley Salmon Society on June 19 the number of spaghetti tagged fish caught will be used to get a estimate of how many are in the Lake. Up to 5 of these tagged fish will be eliglible for $500 in cash prizes. As well other great prizes are up for grabs.
It is thought these PK'S feed on the endangered Cultus Lake sockeye.
As I freelance for BCTV may see if I can get a story for Global that they may decide to use if it looks interesting.
Anyway will file a brief report on what happens tomorrow for Fish A. ;D ;D

Northern Pikeminnow is the new common name for northern squawfish because it is political incorrect. 8)

Looking forward to what you can tell us about the study Chris!

Hey DS.....the second photo looks like a slough shark. been bitten a few times by those. There's a coal fired power plant near where i grew and it kept a portion of the lake open all winter. Scary stories about maintenance divers being attacked by 6 - 7' monsters. i'm curious to know what family pikeminnows are in. Are they a white fish?

Just got back from an overnight stay in Vancouver. Stayed in a hotel on Granville Street by the bridge. Went for a walk to get a coffee while the rest of the family slept in.
On the walk down the street at 5:30 am the sights made me glad I lived in the Valley if you know what I mean including some of the stores I observed were a real eye opener to a country boy.
I think the last time I was at that end of the street was 30 years ago so things have really changed to say the least.
O, to be out fishing again I thought as I quickly retreated back to the hotel after getting the coffee but Leaf Craft is still awaiting the arrival of her new axel so she can continue to roll out to the river. ;D ;D ;D
Anyway I submitted the video of the pike minnow story to Global (channel 8) late this morning on the way home so I hope they use it some time in one of the news slots between now and tomorrow's noon news.
You may want keep a eye open for it if they decide it is interesting enough and they do not have a lot of more important news items. Of course most of you will be watching the hockey game tonight.
