Title: Trout Fishing: Shore
Post by: sassygrams on July 23, 2014, 08:21:15 PM
Have a friend in the lower mainland from France who is interested in fly fishing on shore for trout in lower mainland - doesn't have a boat.  Would someone have any suggestions?  He would like to go out Monday.

Thank you,

Rolley lake, or Mike lake in Golden Ears Park . They are both close in proximity .

If you just want to get into fish, I would suggest Cultus Lake, it has northern pikeminnow which can get surprisingly big, even from shore I have caught 2-3 lbers.
They are eager biters.

From my experience, from a one time visit to both Rolley and Mike, both have limited shore accessibility for shore fly anglers.

The Skagit R might be a challenge for a one day, first time on the river, angler.

I would suggest the Chilliwack/Vedder R for trout/residualized steelhead. They don't get big, but they are willing, plentiful and accessible.
