Quote from Fly BC Vice Pres Ralf Kroning:   The project is habitat based rehabilitation including bank stabilisation, fencing, removal of channel barriers etc. It will provide mainstem habitat in the Coldwater River which includes installing/creating bioengineered bank structures placement of LWD, etc etc all for the enhancement of salmonid, in particular coho, chinook and steelhead productivity. SSBC has partnered up with DFO and BC Conservation Foundation and through BCCF has a funding request with Pacific Salmon Foundation for this particular project in addition to the $42,000 SSBC is committed to raising of the $84,900 total project cost.

We will have a more detailed project description at the fundraiser. Once I receive it in some electronic format, I'll make it public before that.

Scott we would love to see a study regarding rainbows (residualised steelhead) and steelhead in these tribs. If we raise enough money, say another $100k, we will be able to move on such a study. In the meantime, you can make donations to this project specifically, or the Thompson or in general to SSBC via our website: http://www.steelheadsociety.org/donate

We'll be providing some spoon and spinner packs complete with the bibles of spoon and spinner fishing; "Spoon Fishing for Steelhead" by Bill Herzog and "Spinner Fishing for Steelhead, Salmon and Trout" by Jed Davis.

Great event, great people and they'll definitely be some wicked prizes and auction items.

A correction is in order: Mr. Kroning is VP of SSBC (Steelhead Society of BC) and not FlyBC.

Once there is an electronic file of the project description it will be released here and elsewhere ( in the next couple of days). But for now the following will have to do: "DFO has identified all barriers and fencing issues. A DFO restoration biologist and engineer have created a site specific (Coldwater Eaton-Beaton Channel Enhancement Project) restoration and enhancement prescription which includes solutions for setback fencing, riparian planting, barrier removal and bioengineered bank stabilization."

Dear Thompson River Steelhead Supporters,
SSBC is looking for donations for our upcoming fundraiser.
Last year we put the word out and received an overwhelming response from the angling community. This year we hope to do it again – but rely heavily on donations  to make the project go forward.
In order to reach our goal of $42,500 to put towards this year’s project on the coldwater, we need donations for the raffle and both live and silent auctions. If you or your company is able to help out with a donation, please send to:
Attn: Brian Braidwood,
Steelhead Society of B.C.
110-1140 Austin Ave
Coquitlam BC
V3K -3P5
604-931-5044

Alternatively, the SSBC is also seeking funds for this year’s project. If you are able to donate, please go on-line to http://www.steelheadsociety.org/donate, mail a cheque, or contact Brian at Sea-Run Fly and Tackle at the above phone number.

Here is a summary of the project planned on the Coldwater river and adjacent channel:

Thanks to dead head and Trophy Tackle for their generous donations!!

Thank you very much for your help and support.
Brian Braidwood,
President, Steelhead Society of B.C.
