Never hear of anyone targeting cutts or the Veder although I am sure there are a few there. Most people fish the Veder for Spring, Coho, & Steelhead. A few people hit it for Whitefish, Dollies, and Bows. Let us know if you are successful.

actually I went there a few days ago and had lots of success. Try floating line with a Chew Toy or a Stonefly for cutts and hatchery steelhead smolts up to 16inches! We mainly had success with the hatchery steelie smolts on stonefly's. My dad caught a 17 incher on a stonefly in the lower river. I hooked a bull or dollies on an egg-sucking leech. My buddy hooked a large 3lb. cutty, but lost it near his feet. If you are mainly targeting cutties, use minnow patterns like Rolled Muddlers, Mickey Finn's and Zonkers.

Oh and we were fishing the Lower River.

Heys cody what would you suggest using to target the trout and smolts on a float setup?

haha...well for bpws (hatchery steelhead) you can use stonefly under a float! Small globbs of roe, wool, and spin-n-glo's work well for the hungry bows (hatchery steelies).

Right about now....I think that would be EVERYWHERE from Lickman down.   I used to catch a lot on a Colorado blade.  (was tossing for springs.  Dumb fish.)  Big hook, small hook, they don't seem to care.

it's not a real good idea to target the steelhead smolts, there are risiduals smolts that stay in the river but most of the the smolts should be left alone so they can make thier way to the ocean.

As for cutts yes vedder can be good for searuns and fraser residents that enter the river to feed on the salmon fry,.

Cody, I'm having a really hard time believing that you were catching 16 inch steelie smolts. I've caught returning steelhead that were only 20 inches. I appreciate your input but I think you may be a slightly overzelaous with your measurements.
