4 small splitties and an 11g float, with a #4 hook and roe bag,small  chunk of roe, piece of shrimp or a dew worm. I dont get many smolts and even fewer cutthroat on the creeks I fish

Agree with KP, I don't have a problem with using bait. I prefer using a size 2 gami, making it harder for little guys to swallow, although I feel a lot of little nibbles I haven't deeply hooked any Cutties yet, also think roe bags with hardened eggs are better than soft roe to this end. Don't think a 2 spooks a Steely, they are just looking at the bait. Also like a single Jensen egg and wool. Have to agree with Biffchan about putting smaller hooks on spoon and spinners though, you can do some real damage with a 1/0 hook or even a 1, especially as the Cutts will just slash at spoons often getting hooked in the head.
