Hey Guys,
I'm trying to introduce my friend to fishing, we've done the local city lake fishing and I think it's time for us to head further out. Anyone have any suggestions as to some good places to hit up right now? Is Stave river any good? I fished there during the salmon run in the fall, but haven't tried the place at this time of the year. Any other suggestions would be great :). The closer the drive the better! (coming from Surrey).

If you have the gear, go out to the Chilliwack Vedder.
Stave river has whitefish, which can be fun. Just use egg patterns, small chunks of roe or beads, tiny hooks, and light gear. Fish the slow stuff with an indicator and see what hits it!
Just remember: No Fishing in the Ruskin spawning channel, from the inlet near the dam downstream to the boat ramp crossing

If you want bigger fish, probably interior lakes are suitable.
Stave rive or Vedder river is good for hiking instead of fishing. But you may be lucky than me.

Thanks Bobby!
I have another question, is it better to spincast for trout and whitefish ? or is float fishing better?
Thanks agin you guys for the info :)

whitefish are not aggressive predators, they feed off the bottom on salmon parts, eggs, nymphs, etc.
Float fish with roe or egg patterns and small hooks.

Put a maggot or two on a yellow professor fly about 18 inches under a float....

In one short sentence you have managed to offend three different angling groups. Awesome! ;D
