I'm Watching You
« on: October 18, 2015, 10:42:00 AM »

You may think you're sneaky by taking the bag of fish to your vehicle. You may not think anyone noticed you bonk those extra fish and give it them to your buddy who isn't catching. You may think you can use roe during a bait ban.Yes you can do those things, but I'm watching and reporting. So are some others who I encouraged to report the same actions. It's just not acceptable to claim ignorance- judge yourself accordingly.

I'm fed up with poachers. Please report violations every time you see them. It helps to insure the wonderful days we enjoy.

Awesome. Keep watching and reporting. If we don't use it, we lose it.

An endearing song about a new father's love, or, the ultimate stalker's anthem? Only you can decide...

According to Sting, it's the latter. Nothing to do with fatherhood.

The more people report, the more DFO will start to realize that COs are undermanned and that a greater presence is needed.

Just yesterday I reported poachers killing wild coho on the Oyster River, on Vancouver Island. I also later found out that the one guy had been bagging them all season.

So don't ever think light of offenses, as it's likely that they are repeat offenders, who actually have the capability to impact a fishery.

(The Oyster is a recovering river system from overfishing and environmental impacts from the 70's and 80's.)

Most already know a greater presence needed.  Blame the Harper government for cut backs and not hiring enough DFO staff.

Polls are closed so what did you mean by this. Are you saying vote Conservative to stop the Liberals from trying to close all the Hatcheries like they did last time they were in power? Or vote Liberal to restore some of the funding cut by the Conservatives? No party wants to deal with salmon. They are an international pain, provincial pain, and money pit. The only party that might actually save salmon is the Greens, but if they got elected we wouldn't be able to fish for them so...

I hope the guy loses his house ,vehicle etc. That is beyond irritating.

Witnessed two poachers today scuttling out of the parking lot by the Lower Squamish. So obvious.. Couldn't get the black garbage back into the trunk quick enough, almost breaking the tips of their junk rods throwing them into the back and jumping into the car driving away with their waders on. I hope they got caught... It's really quite disturbing when you see it happening in front of you.

A lot of those cohos on the Oyster are hatchery fish. There will be no recovery for the Oyster with Timber West logging the watershed like there is no tomorrow.
