Rioux Lake - First weekend in June?

Anyone fish Rioux Lake?  Anyone fished it early June?  Anyone fished it on the fly?  Anyone have any suggestions?

Up near Clearwater.  I don't know full details on it, as I'm a guest on a "fishing" trip.

Keep the bug spray off your hands or it gets on your fly (if your going to flyfish) fish don't like it.

I imagine it makes a bit of an oily halo around your fly as it hits the water.  Not exactly natural :(

Thats not exactly what I meant the fish can smell the DEET. even eating oranges put citrus on your fly, turns them off.

Once you get hocked on flyfishing, read the book called THE GILLy by Alf DAVEY, another book written by BRIAN CHAN & SKIP MORRIS  ( hope them spelled right ). Both excellent book on flyfishing.

DEET is a good solvent and will destroy the coating on your fly lines too.  Be careful with that stuff.

May flies, Chironomidea, Caddis larva, leaches, drogons.  Use the nymphal stages.  90% of all feeding takes place sub surface.   I like to fish a Gomphus dragon fly on the bottom taht time of year.  Use a fast sink line with 6-10ft leader.  The fly should be made from deer hair, so it will float.  The gomphus is a "fat, fuzzy" dragon as opposed to the normal drogon pattern.  Be prepared for Rain, snow, sleet, hail, sun.  You never know what you'll get.  I've fished that area lots from May to July long weekend and that is the typical weather pattern.  We had 3" of hail one July long weekend.  2 storms rolled over us in one day.  They didn't last long , but they were fierce.  Lots of fun fishing in a belly boat with that much hail coming down.  Wear a wide brimmed hat ;D

Excellent.  Thanks for the particular line and fly info.  So far I own 1 type of line.  Type III sinking (I think).  I'd like get a full sink, and a float before then.
