Wtb steelhead blank
« on: March 02, 2014, 02:41:28 PM »

Looking to buy a blank in the 9'-10' range maybe 8-12 pound rating or lighter
Also any fly rod blanks in the 9'-10" range in a 7-9 weight would work too

What do you plan on using it for - Float? Spoon/spinner? Bottom Bouncer?

There is quite a difference between a 8-12lb gear rod and a 7-9wt fly rod.
For example the ST1022-MHX (8'6" 4-8lb) from Mudhole has ERN: 10.4 and AA: 75
while the F1008-4 MHX (10' 8wt) has ERN: 9.27 and AA: 68.

The much faster action gear blanks are much better suited for levelwind and spoon/spinner fishing, while a fly blank might be suitable for centerpin.
