Title: Boston Bar

I'm heading up to Boston Bar for a few days and was wondering if there was any place close by to try and catch salmon. also what would gear would give me the best chance. never fished there so any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Ray,

I'm not much of a salmon fisher in rivers, but I know the area fairly well.

The mainstem fraser itself in any likely area would be a good bet at this time of year for pinks. There are a few streams that enter near Boston Bar, including Scuzzy and Anderson that will have some salmon enter around this time of year, and have some okay water where they meet the Fraser. If you're looking for pinks, I would go below Hells Gate and fish the mouths of Emory, American, or Spuzzum Creek. Some private/FN property here and there, Emory is easy, Spuzzum medium, and American a bit of a bushwack. The estuaries of each are fishable, and if it's springs you're looking for, they'll be the odd one around.

What lakes are up in that area within a reasonable distance

Steep mountains and very few lakes in the area.

Nahatlatch lakes. Reportedly not great fishing for trout, a few bulls though. Never tried myself.

Kwoiek Lakes, long drive, again not really 'trouty', very glacially influenced system. Quite scenic.

Blue Lake nearby has a resort, interesting scenery, and decent fishing for 10-14 inchers, haven't been there since I was a kid.

There is some quality fishing to be had up in the Seton area, but probably out of range. Again, quality fishing further up near Clinton, at the Big Bar/Little Bar Lakes area. Nice fish, probably out of range. If you're staying close to Boston Bar, I would personally stick to the rivers, or dump a tinny into Nahatlatch Lakes, just because I've never tried.

just did some checking on this. you can fish just can't keep any salmon

blue lake resort is a great place to fish for those 10-14 inchers
especially if you have kids with you
you do not need to stay at the resort just check in at the main office so they know who you are I don't think they charge anything to go and fish there
just remember it is private property
