Title: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: DionJL on October 17, 2006, 01:23:44 PM
So i'm getting killed with injuries. First pool i'm down 3 centers. Rienprect, Federov, Turgeon. But i'm pretty happy with the results in the second pool except for Kipper who isnt getting me any points

I had to laugh though. Because of who Bryan just picked up off of waivers in the second pool.

Just like I said Raycroft is a bum. Let in 2 very soft goals tonight.
;D :D ;D :D

I'm satified with my teams thus far. I personally don't really care for the scoring system in the first pool, but hey its not my league.

I don't know what happened to my guys last night Dion but you can bet that you won't be getting off so easy for the rest of the week.

Oh ya, STB don't think that I don't know what your trying to do. I'm onto you.  :D

I think my teams are pretty decent, I just forgot to set them early on, that is why im down in standings. Should be ok in long run hopefully!

We are tied, but its only the first month of the season. I have done very well without making many moves.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on October 19, 2006, 08:45:52 PM
I have 48 pts tonight so far, you have 32 or so Brian!!  So guess what that means.  I don't think it matters if you make a fair amount of moves or not, if one is happy with one's team then great, if not, then make moves!!  I have and I am pretty ok with my teams now. Doesn't mean I won'rt continue to do some moves if I feel it will improve my team. ;)

Hey STB, You have to come up with better trades than that, those last couple props were garbage.  I sent you over another one that is good for you only because I want one player I think may be good!! ;)

Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: DionJL on October 23, 2006, 11:12:23 PM
First of all you have to change your lineup every day to accommodate for players that aren't playing and those that are injured. You often had empty spots in your roster and therefore collected no points. Your team may suck but so does your coaching. LOL.

Its called stat tracker. It was free for the first part of the season now if you want to see your stats for the day you need to pay for that service. You will see the previous days stats but not live stats. I always pay for it so I can see everyones stats live.

enjoy the small lead while you can, you are barely beating me after one day in which I only had two players playing... talk to me at the end of the week when you are down 8-3 :)

The only week you've won was against Birdman. You lost to The Roe Kid!!!! (and Big Steel but he has a good team) Like i told biff, my special teams are gonna kill you. They knocked biff off his pedastal, and I'll knock you off too.  ;D ;D ;D I've already got shorthanded points and 4PPP along with 2 GWG.
Only place your gonna beat me is with your goalies. Mine are playing horrible.

BTW i'm beating you 9-2! ;D ;D ;D

Yes, my team is getting beat by a bunch of nobodys. My team is so much better on paper. But as everyone knows, it doesn't matter what your team looks like its how they perform on the ice.  :-\

Either way though, I'm not really too worried. I have a few short term injuries (Gaborik, Foresberg) and the guys on my team are quality guys who won't just taper off after two months of being hot.

EDIT: I've only played 10 games Vs. 18 by Eddies team...
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Hey Rick, thought id mention Nabokov is gonna be in net tonite. Not Toskla. It should be interesting to see how those two work out this week since the coach alternates them every game.  Nabokov's looking for his 3rd shutout of the season.

Your getting beat by a bunch of nobodies? Thats how you jusity it in your head hey? It cant be you it has to be something else LOL

I guess players like Alfredsson, Tucker, Phaneuf and Brodeur are nobodies  ::). You probably have the worst goaltenders in the league on your team.

Forsberg always gets hurt were you expecting him to be healthy all year?

Everyone knows that fantasy leagues are always won on paper LOL Fantasy leagues are won by managing, getting the right hot players in and riding the streaks.

I have to agree, and that is the only reason I am doing so well in these drafts is {the rest of the post edited because BB told me I was giving away some tricks, and I agreed!!!} ;D ;D ;D

Oh and Birdman, Luongo got me a shut out, so unless something strange happens, expect to be down something like 8 or 9 to zip by tomorrow!! ;D

Yup thats the way you win. I mean half the team you drafted is gone in both leagues and in one league you are leading. I have won leagues where I drafted like crap and in the end won them. I am not going to get into more strategy since I want to win. Lets not give away all the secrets now  ;)

Well lets see. I am about 13 years older than you, watching hockey that much longer and only played it for 15 years. You want to get technical I can get technical  :P

I have been watching your posts lately and you have been coming across as someone with something to prove. Whats the deal with that. Also if you make a promise to someone you should keep it.....I wont bring up what its about but you should know.

It's called since I said I would do that I've, moved cities, furnished an appartment, didn't have a computer for a long time, and now am writting mid terms. It migonht seem like I'm logged on here a long time but mostly its because I do most of my work on or in fornt of the computer and usually just leave this page open and refresh every 10 minutes or so. To be honnest though I don't really see how you can be calling me out on this. I do it as a favor for people, not because I get anything out of it.

I might seem like someone with something to prove, but I don't. All I want like anyone else is respect.

I even tried helping you with a routine and everything about a year ago do you remmeber that? Now I wont continue this on here so if you are so inclined to continue it e-mail me.

OK I now know what the heck you guys are talking about, and Brian, I don't see how you can be calling him out on this as well.  I mean it is between you guys, but like he said, he makes them up as a favor, and if you keep treating him like this, why would he make one for you!!  Just my 2 cents.  Probably not even worth that much.  Also, Biff, you have seemed a bit on edge lately, what up??  You want to go fishing?  I used to live in Alberta as well. You know why I don't now?  CAUSE IT SUCKED AND WAS BORING AS HELL!!!  Keep your head up, you will be back here looking for some steelies with me in no time!!

Anyhow, enough of that!!!  HOCKEY TALK!!!  How bout those NUCKS!!!!  YEAH BABY!! ;D

Thanks Dave. I know I've been a little pissy latley. Not trying to make excuses or anything but it's kinda hard to be up here stressing out over school while you guys get to be out on the rivers. I've also got some other stuff going on in my life that is taking its toll. It's not something I really want to talk about.

I'm actually going to be down for a few days in November, so we could also hook up then for some coho action.

Midterms f*cking suck! I just finished my last one on wed night. They make everyone at school on edge. Party hard when they're over, then start studying for the next set.

Welll i definatly need to pay more attention to the first pool. haven't been setting the roster lately and missed out on a shutout and lots of points. And i'm getting raped by Rick in head-head. But tonite will prove who has the better team. we both have full rosters.

So lost to rick. Still in third place. I'm beating big steel currently by 3 but only because he got luck with a shorthanded goal.  Biff and Bryan seem to be takin' it out in the head-head. Close match up.

Here's a question. Who are you most impressed with and least impressed with on your teams?

For me I've been pleasantly suprised by Yashin, Carle, Markov and Bouchard.

Bergeron and Elias really need to pick it up. They've been really underperforming so far.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: DionJL on November 02, 2006, 02:56:50 PM
Huge disappointment has been Kiprusoff. Only 3 wins. Also Alex Tanguay. Both are calgary players. Bryan Macabe isn't playing well considering he's on the can not drop list. Also Satan isn't doin' much better.

I have obviously love Shanahan considering some thought he was too old. Hossa, Drury, and Nylander have been very good for me too. Can't forget Gionta. I'd also say Cammalleri is a good little player.

Birdman and BigSteel have been making some very funny trades today. I voted against all of them. They are all VERY one sided for Big Steel. Cant say I blame him but I voted against them as its just not fair.

You are giving up good players he is giving up GREAT players. Well if I didnt have that choice to veto a trade than I guess it wouldnt matter but I do since all owners have that power LOL, oh and yes I would be worried if those trades did go through.

Whatever Ricky, if you hadn't noticed I am kicking your my friend in both anyways!! ::)  If you want to veto trades then fine, whatever. We will just make up more, till birdman and I get players we want.  You guys are saying that they aren't fair, but really, please look at the players.  I am giving up 2 top thirty players and making a couple positions for me weaker and Birdman wants them to fill positions where he is weak.  That is what you do isn't it, try and make your team better?  Also, in giving up 4 point producing players for 2, I will have to holes to fill in off of FA lists.  Won't be able to get much there anymore.  You guys should really look more into it, than just judging a trade on one big name. ::)

Big Steel. I thought you were gonna tear me apart last night? The score didn't change. And now your Fukced because i have Shannahan, Drury, Nylander, and also Campbell on the ice tonite. YOu have Hecht and thats it. I should be able to get a powerplay goal to tie that stat up, and i should rack up the shots. i need 17 + whatever Hecht gets between 4 good players. Very possible.

Looks like we're all tied up and Sunday is the day you get torn apart  ;D

Yeah I suppose, I can't win every week, but at the start of the week I thought you were going to kill me, so the fact that it is still close, well I am pleased with that.  Like I said, can't win every week!!  Now all I need is for hecht to have like a 6 point night!! ;D  And get like 20 shots!! ;D ;D

i'll give you an update.

Hecht shots 0

Shannahan 5 shots
Nylander 6 shots PPG and PPA
Drury 5shots PPA
Campbell 0shots one Assist.

I'm one shot from tying you.

So anyway, i knocked down Big Steel but didn't have enough wins to stay in 3rd. Biff surpassed me with his 10-0 shutout. This week though i have a chance to knock both of you down. BigSteel's gonna get killed by Eddie and if The Little riders fill the holes in his lineup he'll be a tough oppenent for Biff.

Well Eddie took me out this week but it was a lot closer than I thought it would be, he beat me by one win with the goalies, I won all the important things like SOG G and asists he beat me with one lucky SH assist which got him two points over me, so if it wasn't for special teams Eddie would have lost ..... makes me feel pretty good about my team  ;D ;D

You made the league my friend  ;) The score 7-3 is a steamroll everything else is insignificant. Just be a gracious loser  ;D

Lets focus on what Big Steel is doing and thats ripping off kids in these trades. I have seen a couple been vetoed but a couple have went through. Not really fair in my opinion since the trades that did go through greatly benefit him. I dont know what these kids are thinking when they accept them....

You talk about being a graciuos loser, then you go on to whine about trades!!  For the record, I didn't make all these trades, some were offer to me.  Maybe you can give these "kids" the benefit of the doubt, and realize that they may have a clue of what they are doing.  If you are smart you can figure it out, and it has nothing to do with bribing them!! ;)

I gotta say, a lot of the trading thats going on is very lopsided. I dunno how you do it BS but you must be an expert salesman. Bill Guerin for Sean Avery?  :D
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on November 10, 2006, 04:39:44 PM
Biff you should know that Avery is worth more points than Guerin, look at the shot totals alone. :)  Look up therer fantasy points.  But you guys vetoed that one, now I still have both!!  Both worth 70 + fantasy points this year.  Avery with 81 and Guerin with 75.  So I guess that I will thank you for vetoing that one. ;D
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: bbronswyk2000 on November 10, 2006, 04:59:20 PM
I tried to veto that Hossa one which was the biggest lopsided one but I guess not enough owners did the same. Oh well, cant really blame BS blame the kids for being so dumb. Just means we have to really fight for points now.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Sterling C on November 10, 2006, 05:00:42 PM
I didn't veto the Hossa trade. Mcdonald and Giota is fair for a player who is running hot right now.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on November 10, 2006, 05:02:18 PM
For the record, all of those 2-1 pplayer deals will help out the kids.  They got 2 good players for one player.  Those 2 players will get more points combined then the one superstar will. ;)
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on November 10, 2006, 06:05:38 PM
AS much as I wouldn't mind making that trade IH8XC, I would have to let someone go.  Which I don't want to do right now.  I also think that is a steep price for Hossa.  A d-men and a guy I can't stand for him?  I'll have to mull it over for a bit!! ;)

I also notice that Ricky is trying to make an Ugly trade as well, wonder if it will get vetoed like my trades in the Points draft did??
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Mine is not an ugly trade, at least I am wiling to give up my core players in order to make changes!! you are trading the kids players that you just picked up off of waivers !!! don't be vetoing my trade I have not voted against one of you'rs  ::)

Well, I am olny up 5-0 on Slayer right now, and he has a lot more players playing tonight than I do!! ;D

As for your Moves IH8XC, I obviuosly am always willing to make deals.  Rick, that crap you have been sending me, what is that?  You are going to have to do a bit better than that son.  You are my closest competition right now, I am not just going to hand Staal, Shannahan or Briere over to you and get pretty much ZIP in return, you are going to have to do just a bit better than Frolov, Arnason and what ever the heck the other guy was!! ;D  You are starting to propose like STB!! ;D
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

So i'm down to the bird. But that wont last considering he doesn't set his roster. The big blow out with Biff isn't really much of a blow out. Biff is just barely edging in his wins. But a win is a win i guess.

I dropped nabokov for Ollie the Goalie cuz i'd rather have a starting goalie than a alternator.

I think you guy's need to understand how the points work in the first draft, because of the way that Brian set it up , players that have terrible rankings still are some of the best point getters in this league !!!  if you look at the trade I made with  Birdman you will see that it is not a terribly one sided trade !! both players that I am offering are high shot getters and because of the weird point system in place they get a point for every shot, so even if they suck at goals and assists they still get a crapload of points !!!!
when you look at the trade click the button that shows you all of the stats for this year and you will see that the point totals of all the players involved in that trade are very very close in total points !!!!
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Sullivan 58fantasy points ( In only 13 games as he missed games with injury )
Wellwood  81fantasy points
for
Sakic 91
Iginla 90

Your trade
O'Neil 59points
Lehtenin 49points
for
Crosby 77points
Iginla 90points

Mine is OBVIOUSLY a better trade especially since Sullivan should be around 80 points if he was healthy. He is healthy now and playing. Cant argue with those numbers they dont lie.

You know, BIRDMAN!!!!  If you would just adjust your line-ups once a week you would be doing pretty good!!  You would be detroying IX8XC right now.  By not adjusting your line-up tonight, you lost a hat trick by Jokinen, not to mention numerous other points all week.  It isn't to late though, you can still take him out!!

I brought it up for the simple fact that you werent buying what I was saying. I enjoy these leagues and always have win or lose. The thing is though when people are getting stars for bums it takes the fun out of it as it now becomes an unlevel playing field. I am not a sore loser I just want to see things be fair. Why do you think I have not sent these kids a million trade requests? Its because I dont want to win like that.

Hey Birdman, here's a hint: Don't trade Yashin away for nothing. He might have been useless the last few years but this season he is doing extremely well. Don't underate him and trade away for nothing, but if you still want to get rid of him I will take him off your hands... ;D

I am not buying what you are saying because like I have said numerous times, because of the way you created this league the bums get the same amount of points as the superstars !!!!!!!! therefore trading a bum for a superstar is on an even keel... it doesn't matter if a Joe Sakic gets 1 goal and an assist per night because Joe Smoe gets five shots and gets the same amount of points !! this is why we argued the point setup in the beginning remember ????  one shot should have never equalled 1 point...  so stop nixxing trades based on ranking because in this league it don't matter !!!!

Your trade to Bridman was an obvious one sided trade and thats why it got vetoed.  A 59 point difference is big and the players you were giving him were bums compared to the players he was giving you.

Wasnt too long ago you were giving Dave heck for trying to rip off these kids and now you are doing the exact same thing. Do what you want but I am not going to try and win by ripping kids off in trades. Its a free league with nothing to gain. It is supposed to be fun but with these crappy trades and indviduals benefiting from them greatly it sure doesnt make it as much fun. I dont see Biffchan trying to do it to these kids.

I have nothing against you infact I think your a good guy I just dont agree with it. I am not going to be mad at you or anyone for that matter over some silly fantasy hockey league  ;)  :)

lmao it is because the people in this draft for SOME reason cannot get past the ranking thing.. even if a player has more points it doesn't matter to the people in this pool.. for some reason it is all about how the player is ranked....  it is such a simple concept that SOME people cannot grasp for whatever reason !!  ::)

Rick the trades you are proposing in the head to head are ridiculous. You cant give the excuse of SOG for this league as players with more points in each category are what you look at. Like that trade Arnason for Marleau PLEASE!!! Marleau leads him in all caregories other than SOG ya thats fair  ::)  Well you made your bed and you have to sleep in it.... ;) VETO VETO VETO

Oh and that other trade for Sakic. The only thing Rechi is leading in is short handed and its because he has 1 short handed point instead of 0. Another fair trade  ::)

Hey Biff, that's a nice trade you have going with your little brother!!  But if someone is giving up Kipper right now, no matter who you think you are giving up, it not a fair deal!!  Not like a Svatos/Yashin trade, which is actually the fairest trade I have seen latey, but geuss what?  It keeps getting vetoed for some reason.  So guess what is going to happen to your unfair trade?? ;)
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Sterling C on November 22, 2006, 08:14:53 PM
Svatos, Yashin isn't a fair deal. Your taking advantage of birdman. Yashin is getting 6.2 pts per game, Svatos is getting 4.7 pts per game. Over the course of a season that ends up being a net difference of 108pts assuming they continue to produce at the same rates and are not injured.

Biff, Biff, Biff.....  I don't really think you are getting it, I said that it was the fairest trade that has been on here lately.  I also would make a trade if I didn't think it would help my team.  But to be honest, I don't know if Yashin will keep it up, and Svatos was a real slow starteer last year, as well as this year, but he is now getting a bit more ice tiume and he is starting to light it up.  You can't always rely on just stats.  I didn't when I picked up Vanek, and I can't believe you guys just let him sit there for days.  So, I took a chance, picked him up and what do you know, he has something like 118 pts.  ALso, no one wanted Brierre, I drafted him pretty late, on a gut feeling, hes has well over 100 points as well.  Sometimes you just have to take a chance.  You guys vetoing the Svatos trade could and probably will turn out pretty good for me, cause at 107 points, includng tonight so far, he is no slouch!! You should even be talking about fair though, making deals like that with your little brother!! ;)
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Fine.....tell you what. I won't veto the Yashin trade and maybe I'll even re-work out the Kipper trade should it not go through...however, the trade was my brothers idea. He's been sending out a lot of trade proposals lately. I believe he even send you a substantial offer.

Yes he did, and it was a good trade prop!!  :)   But my gut is telling me that St.louis is just going to get better and that Nylander will come back to earth shortly!!  So..... REJECTED!! ;D

Don't even know if I want the Yashin Trade anymore, Svatos, as I said is starting to get a bit more Ice-time and he is also getting me a crap load of points right now, so I will hold off for a bit! :)

Ok i really don't get it. I send very reasonable trades to people and they get rejected. Then Big Steel swoops in making some sh!tball trade offer and people accept. Its a little rediculous. Kaberle and Marleau both hot players for who Tanguay, who has been picking it up lately but still not as good as marleau, and Chara, a stay at home D who gets few points or shots for that matter. WTF
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on November 24, 2006, 05:22:46 PM
For your information, Chara is a offensive d-man.  5 goals 8 assists 13 points and 49 shots in 18 games.  That seems pretty good to me for a d man!! ::)  He also get's all the pp time. What's the problem? ???

Also, I am giving up 2 high ranked players, that will more than like get going.  Maybe you shouldn't be such an my friend sometimes, and people would trade with you.   ;)
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: DionJL on November 24, 2006, 05:53:23 PM
Ummm 13 points does not compare to Kaberle's 22points. And both Kaberle and Marleau are on teams that are doing well. Tanguay and Chara are both on teams that suck lol. Its hard to get points when your team doesn't do well.

Don't call me an my friend, you're the one thats still bitter i beat you head to head!!!

Just for the record, Calgary doesn't suck!! ;D

What ever gave you the idea I was bitter? You beat me far and square, mind you, I found out that you weren't that great of a winner.  But that is besides the point.  Fact remains that it isn't going to happen again.  You had a lucky week by one player, and that was the differece.  Anyhow, it is a decent trade.  Like I said, you have to look at more than just the numbers.  ;)  Stop worrying about what I am doing, that isn't going to help YOUR team.  You need to be worrying about your team if you can hardly beat the kids!! ;D ;D

Hardly beat the kids ::)  Have you seen the score. The only close round against an easy opponent was first round. Of course it matters what you do. If one team in the NHL had a higher Cap than the others, there woudl be outrage. Its the same situation in this league, you have an unfair advantage because you are somehow able to swindle these kids into trading you their top players. Its funny how they don't post on the thread and explain themselves.

Yeah a good match up!!  You gained a category on me so far tonight, but I don't think that tomorrow will decide it, Sunday will when I have 6 players playing, and you don't have any!!  If you are behind after tomorrow, well, we could be looking at a fairly lopsided affair when it is all said and done.  Should be interesting anyways!! ;)

You are still sore about the St.Louis/ Arnott trade, so your opinion doesn't count.  Besides, you guys could have vetoed them if you didn't think they were fair. ::) SO I must have been giving up talent.  Face it, I have done a good job of reading players so far.  That is how the league is set up, so no one can cheat.  Rick, how about you try being a good loser!!  ;D ;D  But if telling yourselves that I cheated makes you feel better, then by all means, have at it. Besides, I haven't made many trade related moves in the points league, the head to head I have, but since I am not winning that one YET, no one is mentioning it. ;D
Just for the record, up until about a day ago I was only 6 points ahead of Eddie.  Rick, the reason you are slipping down the standings, is simple.  You had a good team, and you made some bad roster moves, oh yeah, and you trade Savard and St. Louis for Arnott and Marleau!!  Which of those players have gotten their game together.  Not the guys you wanted, that's for sure!! ;)

You know I made that trade to you with an agreement there would be another trade benefitting me coming back !!! then you turn around and go back on your word.. the only reason that trade was ever accepted is because you were frickin crying to me saying how mean I was to you !!!! you have cheated and now you are going to win.. I hope you feel good about it! ::)

Again Rick, that is a load of crap!!  Nothing like that was ever discussed on my part.  You kept saying I owed you, and I said whatever!!  You got Marleau, that was who you wanted.  After a few days you were the one whining!! ::)  But whateve,r say what you want!!  If I do win, I will enjoy it, and you had better pay up.  I will say it again, if something was not fair, you guys could have done something about it, so don't play that you cheated crap.  Suck it up, take it like a man and admit that you have made some bad moves!! ;)

So today's games are over and i added up the points. I'm gonna beat Bryan 10-0. a big upset in my eyes. I'll get 22 points, he'll get 2. It will probably put me right up there behind him, depending on how biff and BS turn out.

I'll wait and see what happens in the next couple days, as my team is going good in both leagues.  I would like Selanne, but I am not going to do something stupid and make a trade to benefit someone who is determined to chase me down in the head to head. ;D ;D  But a couple days may change things!! ;D
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

So let me get this straight, you want Staal AND another superstar for Selanne?? I am guessing that you didn't really want to give up much judging by the last prop you sent me.  So I would have to say.......Not a chance then.  Good luck catching me. :-*
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: DionJL on December 06, 2006, 12:23:18 PM
No, I will trade selanne for staal, if you give me one of those three players for a slightly less than equivelent player in the head to head league.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on December 06, 2006, 02:10:20 PM
I don't mind them, but I sent you one with some tweaking in the head to head, so you know what I am thinking.  I need to get a d man back in the head to head.  I would be short a d-man if I didn't.  So.....  Cambell for kaberle, but you said you wanted Kovalchuk as well.  SO I iffer you kovalchuk for Shannahan.  That I know is a close one, and who knows how they will finsih the year.  Kovalchuk is young and should stay strong all year. Shanahan, well he is in his 40's and well, who knows.  But you win on the kaberle Cambell, I can't take walker, well, that is just not even close to fair and it would get vetoed.  Kaberle has more points and shots than walker.  At least with Cambel, it is a bit closer.  You did say slightly less equivelent player didn't you.  So Cambel for Kaberle should fit that bill.
As for the points league, I like my D-men how they are, and Zubov has really turned it on since I picked him up off waivers!!! :o  SO it would be Staal for Selanne straight up.  As both my teams are doing pretty good right now, I don't feel pressed to make a trade.  It is up to you now, you know what I am looking for.   ;D  Straight up Selanne for Staal, and Cambell for Kaberle. :)

I went to see my first Calgary Flames Game Vs. Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.  I ended up leaving early.  Did you know that the Calgary ice rink is very small?  I guess I'm use to seeing the Olympic size at GM Place.  I found that there was not much energy from the players and the fans. But of course I love my Canucks. Can't and Will NEVER convert me.  Alot of fights in the first period. Left by the second period. I'll go again when they play Canucks.

I have to laugh at you rick. Did you even look at the trades before you hit veto??? In the points league they points total are only 12 different. And in the Head to Head League they players are very equal. For me i just want to have Kaberle and McCabe paired up as my defensive combo. And i'm sure BS just feels more confident having selanne because he already has him in the Head to Head league. But go ahead and veto, i'll still get my vengance on last round's loss to you in head to head. ;D

LOL. Well if you compare the points its "fairly" even. And don't forget Jason Arnott was out for 4weeks. The points he could have racked would make up for most of the difference.

Danny knows what he's doing.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

Ok. Now you're being unreasonable. That was a fair trade that just got vetoed.
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat
Post by: Big Steel on December 22, 2006, 10:45:47 AM
Dude, a guy ranked in the 230 range and another guy ranked in the 85 area from Crosby, who we all know is the league leader in points and probably the best player in the league is not a fair trade.  You say that they are about even in points, but that is bunk man, give your head a shake. ::)  You know that with that extra spot on your roster you can pick up another player from FA.  In the head to head league there are still some good ones, even some that have pretty much as many points as the guys you are trading.  So when you add the right guy out of FA, it really means that you only gave up one player for Crosby, which is an UNFAIR trade. It would have to be a one for one trade, Superstar for superstar. Like the trades that I did.  I gave up superstars, just that the ones I got back are producing and the ones I gave up are not.

Shaddup!!! ???  Dammit, but what would you have done??  I had 2 stars in goal, and a back-up.  One of the stars didn't play for some reason, the other one lost and the back up got the shut out!!  It happens.  Not a good night for me in any of my drafts!! :-[ ;D

Ok so another lose to me. But it was a pretty good week. Boucher is shaping up to be a start defenseman. RoeKid kept BS honest, but Eddie looks like he's making another big jump up. Hopeing i can bounce back next week. i have another tough opponent unlike BS.

Dion, you just got  lucky. Had  played Bouchard instead of Elias who was scratched with a bruised foot I would have beat you in goals and games winners.

Oh ya Dave, looks like my brother is now within under 100 points of you in the points league. I should get him to post a little more on this thread.

So after I didn't set my line up, Dion gets a free head start, so no excuses when I come back to beat you!! ;D  As for the points league, Got Fish, if you read this, nice work man. ;)  I was a bit skeptical about how you were making your comeback, but if you have the time to look through all the players and resign multipal players each day so you have a full line up everynight, then all the power to you!!  I think we should have set maximum games allowed per position, but we didn't so nice work!!  ;D Also I didn't set my line up for yesterday, I was sure I had but I guess not.  ???  So now things are a little to close for comfort.  But  least it will make it much more interesting and I will have to start thinking again to get as many points as I can.  Was kinda on cruise control for a while!!  ::)  Best of luck to everyone in the second half.  Remember no one is out of it, anyone still has a chance if they play their cards right!! ;)

Yes I realize that, who'd a thunk that on Saturday night, the star goalies for my team would be sitting!!  ???  Consider yourself lucky on that one.  But a real entertaining week anyways.  Your guys did what they had to do, and barring a major night by Marleau and Selanne, I am going down to defeat for the second time in a row!!  Oh weel, you guys aren't gaining much, so it makes the blow a bit easier. ;D ;D

OK This is getting stupid. Two of my best players suffered brutal hits. Now i have to wait and see how long Drury will be out. I've got a clinched playoff spot in head to head but that means nothing if i have a broken team. Also glad to see my goalies both pulled out overtime loses.  ::)

Because they were throw in's.  Frolov was the key to that deal. All I was asking for was Whitney and some other second liner!!  Was a far deal, not like you trying to pawn off an Injured Shannahan on me for Selanne and Iginla!!  I wouldn't trade either for a healthy Shanny!! ;D  Considering that he hasn't produced for the last monith either!!  He barely has 50 points!! :o
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

So with my recent injury spurt i have decided i need to play the trade deadline. I've pick up Nabokov because Toskala's out for the season and san jose is a good team that will continue to win (i hope). I've had Tkatchuk for a while and he's been a good "3rd liner" so to speak. But now he's on atlanta and if he's pair up with any of their three stars i expect him to do exceptional. I also picked up Anson Carter because he is now on Carolina playing with Whitney and Staal as Cole is out for atleast 2weeks. i can only hope he doesn't get bumped down for stillman.

Hopefully i can makeup some ground. And hopefully drury's out only another game.

Nice Match up Dion, to bad that Fleury and Vokuon got back to back shut outs!! ;D ;D  Now it is Biff, ( a bit of a surprise) and I in the finals that last 2 weeks!!  Should be awesome.  May the best team win Biff.  Other than injured players, I won't play the waiver wire if you don't.  Should be the best team, not the one who has the most line-up changes every night!! ;)  What do you say?  I noticed that Dion tried it the last couple nights, and didn't workout so well for him!! ;D
Title: Re: Hockey Pool Chat

I only did it to match you. My goalies had been consistently getting shutouts and you fluke out and get TWO. It wasn't really a close match, i beat you pretty badly in the categories i won and you beat me badly two.

You know i could drop one of my top players and Biff would be able to pick him up off waivers half way through the week because he has priority. Is that why you don't want to play the waiver game?

I don't really care what you do, I have faith in my team.  Besides I know that Biff is more of a man than that.  If you beat me badly, then why are you sitting there out of the game?  Man it was 7-5 and you had a crap load more players playing then I did.  You Lost, get over it!! ;)

Yes, but I lost a man game on that one, just wanted to get my orginal D=man back that I had before I played Dion.  I had to make a couple roster moves to keep up with him, and released Cambell. He was available again, so I waited until a night Corvo was playing and lost a game.  Cambell didn;t play the first night he was eligible for me either.  wasn't like I made the move to gain a game.  I gave myself a penelty and lost a game.  I don't mind at all if you pick up a player here and there, just not the everyday onslought your brother did, in the points league, forcing me to do the same there. ;)

Hey Dave, looks like I pulled off the come from behind upset win. Although, I will be the first to admit I got lucky. Very close indeed.

Now hand over them prizes  ;D

I noticed that gong in, so I wasn't real worried yet!!  Give me a couple days though!!  SO I guess that if you win this one, we are all square, cause there is no way your little bro is catching me in the points league!! ;D

Ok, looks like I've won for real this time.  ;D

Wow Dave, that was a pretty close matchup, could have gone any way really....

I'd just like to take this time to thank the guys on my team for giving it all. With special thanks going out to Tom Poti and his 9 pt effort, Mats Sundin and his 40 shots, Backstrom and his 3 SO and Patrik Sharp for getting me the only SHG of the entire matchup.

Good job biff. The underdog won the league. Just goes to show anyone or any team can win at any given time. Good year everyone.  :)

Great Job Biff, it couldn't have been a better matchup.  Congrats.  ;)  It always comes down to specialty teams doesn't it? :)  So I guess that we cancel each other out eh?

Oh and Dion, I won the Points league so....  How about some Chronies!! ;)

Dion, I could use some tomb thumbs or elk hair caddis. Which ever is easiest for you to tie up.

Dave, do you still want to swap prizes? I've been doing a bunch of tying this week, so I could easily tie you up some in front of a hockey game. Do you want chronies or could I interest you in a fresh batch of doc spratleys I've been tying up.

Big Steel gets nothing from me in the points league ;)

Biff you have two choices from me
1. A day out sturgeon and pink fishing in my boat
2. 10 of the same killer coho pattern

Dion, how about size 12's in natural undyed color.

Dave, I would still be up for doing a swap. Since Dion is already giving you chronies I'll tie you some spratleys. They're my go to searching/trolling attractor pattern. As for floats how about some DNE 25g floats.

BB, I can hardly wait.

I should have put a limit on the waiver moves on that league. If their had been I would have won that league hands down. You two guys were the only ones with like 1000 moves in the league. I was ahead of everyone else who played like a real GM. Anyways I still owe nobody anything in that league but next year I will put a restriction on the amount of waiver moves allowed.

Your all whiners!!  I was up to go to work, besides, you pushed me to it!!  You did it for a month before I figured I wuold level the playing field!! ;D  That's ok, I wasn't expecting some to pay up anyways.  Kudos to Biff and Dion and Bryan for stepping up.  Just don't whine about it.  You forced me into doing it Got Fish.  What, did you think I was just going to let you run away with it by all those roster moves?  You still did 100 more moves than me and couldn't get the job done!!  :D

Dion if you want to email me the flies thats cool, should be able to get them in the mail for 52 cents or whatever it costs these days. For everyone else, don't bother mailing anything not worth the postage, just give them to me next time I'm in town or to my brother (although I highly doubt I'd get them then...)

Dave, send me your adress and I'll put your flies in the mail. They've been tied and sitting on my desk for a while, I just kinda forgot about them.

I don't really fly fish anymore, at least not this year... ???  So when we hook up Barfing this summer we'll come up with something.  How does that sound?

Dion, thanks for the Bar weights.  I will put them to good use and hopefully not lose any!! ;D
