I didnt vote for anyone yet, cause i have both john milner( talisman) and a islander (steelheader),l like to use the talisman for steelheading and use the islander steelheader for others. Both are good reels but depend on your budget

Anyone ever have an I.M.W. pin.  These were made for a short run at the machine shop in Chiliwack of the same name.  I believe they have stopped production.  I am using an Islander Steelheader.l

I have 2 Silexes and an Islander. Thinking of selling the Islander to buy a Milner

I have an I.M.W. they are alright, look very nice. My favorites, based on actually using them are as follows:

1. Milner Kingfisher
2. J.W. Young Trudex II
3. J.W. Young Purist
4. J.W. Young Trudex
5. Islander
6. Hardy Superba
7. Grice & Young Avon Royal Supreme
8. I.M.W.
9. Hardy Silex

I am sure if I tried others the list would be different, but it is based on having fished them
I prefer bushing reels that have a smaller arbour, they start up nice and easy, the larger diameter reels and the bearing reels start up a little slower, making your cast more work.

I wish I have had the chance to own a McDonald, Milner Talisman or a Hardy Major but alas they are just way to expensive.

Of course if the reel isn't true it will be crap, no matter who the maker. ;)

I have not fished enough with a pin to know the difference.  Better quality than the winterrun by trophy

My vote goes for my Hardy silex superba, with very honorable mention to my little KP from south Africa.

I have a milner, a hardy silex superba and a winter run.... I fish with the winter run cause it's the only 1 I don't care about dropping on the rocks after landing a fish. I realy want 1 of those black anodized milner kingfisher's.... just to spin and look at oooh aaawh ;D
