This year, Chilliwack Fish and Game Protection Associations will not be hosting the annual Boxing Day Chilliwack River steelhead fishing derby. To make sure this 80+ year tradition continues, Fred's Custom Tackle will be picking up that role and host the derby instead. Entry fee is $20 and if you are already in the Wally Hall Jr season derby, the fish you bring to the weigh-in will be eligible to win in both derbies. Once again, the true winners are going to be the fish because all of the proceeds raised from both derbies will be donated to Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition which will carry on more habitat restoration and salmon enhancement work on the Chilliwack/Vedder River system. I believe the leader is the Brother of Mark Roseboom from Lone Butte fly shop who rod has fished with for Kokanee.

If I'm not mistaken, that will be the biggest fish to win the boxing day derby in a looooong time. Having said that though, I've been skeptical of the accuracy of that old clubhouse scale for a long time. (Not that it matters, the biggest fish is still the biggest fish  )
