Non-tidal Fraser River salmon fishing reopens on September 19th. Pay attention to the coho salmon regulations. Coho salmon fishing will remain closed until October 10th. Retention of hatchery-marked coho salmon opens on October 11th.

So What's the visibility look like on the non-tidal Fraser right now?  I would think a plunking setup without bait would be an exercise in futility.

I believe Rod Toth has a line of spinners designed for bar fishing without bait for just this season.  You can probably even find a video where he demonstrates the technique.

Is bar fishing with spin n glows viable this late in the season? I've never done it before and I got the gear all ready before it was shut down.

No mention of fishing methods for the target species on the notice . Is there a reason for no implementation for this request . Like ,
- The daily limit for chum salmon is two (2).
- You may not fish for coho salmon or sockeye salmon.
- You may not use bait when fishing for salmon.

- You may not snag or floss when fishing for salmon .

I beleive that those infamous bars will be at there worst again  ::)

I'd be more worried about the nets that will be coming out again from the Fraser mouth all the way to upper river.

Well, snagging is already illegal province wide at all times, though I suppose a gentle reminder couldn't hurt.

They cant say this because like it or not, it's not against the rules and not a violation.

Or we can just focus on the positive aspects of this fishery....

Bar fishing should be excellent in the next six weeks. Although your chance of getting into a red chinook salmon will be pretty slim once it opens, you'll be encountering numerous species during this time of the year - Harrison chinook, chum, coho salmon, steelhead...

This was on September 18th last year, a nice red spring:

Once hatchery coho salmon retention opens, fishing will be good in the Tidal Fraser River. Judging by fish that have been caught in the ocean and those that have been seen in the tributaries right now, it should be a reasonably good return.

No gill net openings are expected in the river, as sockeye have already moved on. There will probably be economic beach seine openings for chum salmon later on in mid October.

No gill nets at least until the chum commercial opens  and then they will take out all the coho and Thompson steels

Rodney, did you mean during the next 6 weeks it should be excellent or in another 6 weeks time?
