Any specifis fly for targeting Dolly's???
« on: December 31, 2005, 10:29:36 AM »

Am shackled with a golf tournament on the 1st..but, decided to close the business Monday as everyone seems to be and am heading for the river..am going AGAIN down here on the nuttsack..a couple buds are telling me we are heading up river quite a bit and we'll be targeting Dollys for the most part...they said if any steelies are around they will be little ones in the 3-4 pound range so I'll be fishing my 6wt most likely..(I'll bring the 9wt too just for sh*t's and giggles)...
can i use my smaller steelie flys or is there a more specific fly for Dollys??? thanks for the help..

streamers, minnow patterns, flesh flies, and egg sucking leeches all work very well ;)

Make sure your flies are large enough #4 to #2/0. May sound strange to you as it did to me, but remember we are talking about preditors. The guy who taught me to catch them on the upper Pitt, showed me how those big guys (10 lb and better) won't even move if the fly isn't big enough.
