Title: Quarry Rd
Post by: Blood_Orange on March 11, 2019, 10:27:38 AM
How far does Quarry Rd go? Does it stop beside the confluence of Widegon Creek and the Pitt River? Does it go up to the campground? Google Maps shows a narrower line going past that point up to the lake but I'd suspect that's a trail and not a road. Thanks!

Why dont you go for a lovely afternoon excursion and drive it?  Bring a picnic and a friend.

Sounds like a fun little trip. 🤣

Not too sure how far you can drive it but I know you can't get as far as it's showing on Google Earth. That is an old logging road that turns into a small hiking trail after the Widgeon creek campsite. Wouldn't be surprised to find a gate before the Widgeon Creek area as well. The campsite there is boat access only but there is probably vehicle access for park staff.

I understood that Quarry Road used to be gated. If memory serves, it's gated early on, before the quarry.  Hiking and 4x4 clubs talk on their forums about the gate and the private property.

I haven't been up there myself, and there doesn't appear to be any recent information, but I didn't dig too deeply.

Nice find, Aaron. The gate is a couple of hundred metres past the quarry, just beyond the "End of Public Road" sign :)

If you try and go past the gate with a bike you will most likely be promptly escorted out....been there done that 8)
