Always check the regs before you go fishing.  The reg state open Aug 13, 14 and 15 only.  Go to form front page of Fishing with Rod, lick on links, click on salmon supplement, go to the river you want.  Takes about 30 seconds and saves you time and money.  I print the section on the river I will be fishing and take a copy with me as at my age you can get forgetful.

Was fishing early Saturday morning at Gill Rd. Bar, not a lot fishing from shore maybe 15, heard from a senior fisherman about 65 fishing from shore at Ferry, in 2 hrs. saw only one sockeye landed and killed by one at Gill., saw risers but not many, they weren't rising at Ferry I was told, lots of boats, parking was at a minimum at Gill, left for the Vedder......Beautiful Day to be fishing :)

We were below Gill road for about 6 hours.  Lost one sockeye near the boat, landed a 10lb white spring, lost another spring out with the boat. Had a few other fish on for a couple of headshakes then gone. Saw 2 other sockeye landed near us,  and one jet boat  fighting a spring. Fishing was probably as expected given the high water, lack of bars to fish from, and relatively low numbers of fish - at least compared to last year.
A beautiful day weather wise and no mosquitos.

Category(s):  RECREATIONAL - Salmon

Subject:  FN0727-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Region 2 - Sockeye retention in the non-tidal waters of the Fraser River

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The current status of the Fraser River sockeye return provides for recreational
sockeye retention opportunities at this time in the non-tidal waters of the
Fraser River in Region 2.

Further to Fishery Notice FN 0711, effective one hour before sunrise Saturday,
August 13, 2011 until further notice, in those waters of the Fraser River in
Region 2 (non-tidal Fraser River) retention of sockeye is permitted with a
daily limit of two (2) per day.

The next update regarding the status of the recreational sockeye retention
fishery will be Monday, August 15, 2011 following the next Fraser River Panel
meeting.

Variation Order No. 2011-393 and 2011-394.

Notes:

Anglers are requested to release any hatchery marked sockeye.  These fish are
hatchery raised sockeye and part of a recovery program designed to increase the
numbers of Cultus Lake sockeye.

Sport anglers and guides are reminded to label and submit heads from adipose
fin-clipped (hatchery-marked) Chinook and Coho salmon to the Salmon Head
Recovery Program. Recovery of coded-wire tags from recreational fishers
provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment.  For more

The update to the freshwater salmon supplement is delayed slightly, I am sure it will read "until further notice" soon to reflect the more recent notice FN0727.  While the supplement is an easy form to browse (easier than reading individual notices) you do not always get the most up to date information.

Went to scale bar today, but one look from the highway and I turned around. :o
Found a quieter spot back down the highway, caught 1 after an hour and a half. Seemed to be slow for everyone where I was.

The sad thing was that I was already seeing line and other garbage left on the river, I picked some up but sure wish people would pick up after themselves.
