Wholesale Sports has them, SMI Electronics in Langley (owner is a gold panning enthusiast), Deakin Outdoors in Vancouver has them. If you're not going to be on one of the designated rec sites you need to get a free permit to pan and there's rules such as no panning in parks, on private land, on native reserves, or on placer or mineral claims without permission.

thanks guys. i thought that you had to have a free miners permit only if you had a claim. maybe i'll give hope a try.

you need a FMC to stake, own or work a claim; read up on it, as sniping on someone else's claims (without written permission) can lead to bad feelings ;)

I do not-ish  give permission as in the past, as I was left with a mess (both physical and bureaucratic) to deal with, the liabilities are too great.

hahaha.... that's awesome. I had no idea you could do that. THE RUSH IS ON.

I'm addicted to those gold mining shows on Discovery channel ... (it's like Housewives of Orange County for dudes). My favorite is Bering Sea Gold-Under the Ice.

I still want to see what's at the bottom of the "Glory Hole" for the Dakota boys. I have yesterdays recorded and still need to watch it lol.
