Took a drive down to the site this after noon and the truck is still there in the middle of the Canal.

Traffic was backed up past Lickman Road as it is single lane across the bridge.
If you are coming West bound on Highway 1 turn off and come through Yarrow or across Keith Wilson Bridge as that will save you some time.

Yes they had a container there today, not sure what they had taken from the truck but you donot like Canadian beer anyway do you? ;D

Saw on Global News tonight the truck driver went off the bridge instead of hitting a car that had run into the back of the original truck that had jack knifed on the bridge. Put his own life at risk and saved the people in the small compact car.

I saw that article too, thought the truck driver was quite heroic taking that decision. Tough choice.

WAYNE IS THE HERO FOR 2008WAYNE IS THE HERO FOR 2008WAYNE IS THE HERO FOR 2008[/glow][/font]
According to Global news, the truck driver's name is Wayne. He deserves the HERO OF 2008 award for his heroic action. His was the second truck that came behind the 2 small cars which already crashed into the jacknifed truck. If Wayne had not taken the plunge, the people in those 2 other cras would probably be dead.
Wayne, whoever you are, you are the Christmas Angel and THE HERO FOR 2008.

In the fall at low tide you could wade across from the east side but only if you knew where to wade and in the middle their is a sand bar. On the west side of the canal it is 6-8 feet deep (apx).
