I dont think its too early. It all depends on Where your fishing. Some of my friends went up amd hooked into 3 nice springs.

Good for them, the fish are in there they just come and go in spurts, as for being peak Vedder run, it's early. And thats the thing with river salmon fishing, one day they will be holding in one spot and the next it will be slow. The fish are always on the move.

I agree with the trout slayer.  It's a bit early, numbers wise but if you put in the time looking for the fish you'll be rewarded even if it takes you the whole day to get one spring.  Usually at the peak or near the peak of the spring run in the vedder you are guaranteed to get in to a few springs.

Went out after work today and headed down to peach. Boy was it a zoo. There were guys lined up every few feet on the north side of the river. I wasn't going to fish that so I went looking for some quieter water.

Found a nice slot and started fishing with white wool and a jensen egg. No bites but a smal spring jumped out of the water so I knew they were in there. Dropped the jensen egg and drifted with just wool. No bits so I though I would put a spinner on and try that. Few drifts later I had a good take but no hookup. Okay now were getting somewhere.

Threw out again but noticed my pant leg was coming out of my boots and was getting wet. Darn it, so I bend over and tucked them back in. Well you guessed it, Fish On. I should not pay attention more often. Really good fighter and the only other guy around comes over to help land it. He can see it and its a chromer. Took awhile to bring him in even though it was a smaller fish. So I was only out for about an hour but well worth it.

Here's a pic when I got it home. About 24" long or 61cm. So I guess its still a jack as its under the 62cm limit. I still put him down on my licence because I didn't have a tape measure.
