would try muddler minnows in blue, brown or black. Also try christmas trees(springs also like these). Also try glow bugs.

Cast just slightly upstream, just mend the line as she goes downstream.

thanks for the info guys, and about the depth of the fly, where would it be ideal when drifting through a run? (I'm asking this to know if i should add a sink tip or not)

Oh and one more question, when fly fishing for pinks back in their river systems what flys work? I've tried the common "anything pink" (ie, pink wolly buggers, pink etc) and nothing worked despite that there were pinks everywhere!! Does this mean that they're not biting anymore?

On a river like the Vedder a ghost tip is what I prefer. Or a slime line. Dont use floating lines very often. If I am fishing a slough with no current a floating line with a weight fly would do as your fly only needs to be subsurface. 99% of the time the fish are caught on the swing for me.

I use a multi tip system for fly line. I attach the different tips depending on the speed of the water. You want to get the fly down into the zone as fast as possible but you also do not want the line to get hung up. I strip the line as it swings. You will want to hang on as when some of the fish hit they hit hard.
