Title: abu garcia 6501c3 line question

just got this for christmas don't even know how to use it but i am gonna head out to chilliwack to try my luck at a stealie this week, but i got to put some line on my new reel i am gonna put proablay a 30lb line but any special line i need to use with these reels to help them work better or is just regular line fine

put on nothing more than 20 pound, mono or low vis braid

For steelhead you should be using 12-15lb mono.

There's a chance that you'll hit icy conditions - I haven't actually tried it but I would think that uncoated braid would ice up badly.
Also, heavier mono will become very stiff in the cold and be a problem to cast.

I am heading out this morning to give it a go.

Stick with 15 pound test. Unless you're chucking voicing betty's on the Fraser with it. You should be able to handle any fish the Vedder can throw at you.

15lb p-line, maxima ultragreen, flouroclear, trilene maxx. Use them all on my baitcasters, dont mind any of them, even trilene big game stood the test of time for many years. 15 or 12lb.
