Campbell reel
« on: December 11, 2016, 02:01:00 PM »

Hi
I picked up a 5" Don Campbell CP reel and it has play between the pin and bushing. The reel is in 'like new' condition.

I would like to contact Mr Campbell to see if he can shed some light or help me remedy this. Not expecting 'warranty work' ...willing to pay if need be.

How do I contact Mr Campbell?

Try to snug up the center grub screw just a shade. There is a fine balance point between a nice free spin and a slight spool wobble.

Yup, Rieber..did that already too.

I spun it a bit when I bought it Tyee, but didn't examine it it as much as I should have I guess.....

Anything that can be done to improve it would be bonus.... I don't want to tinker anywhere beyond the simple grub screw adjustment..that is why I want contact the maker.

Maybe the little hole where the spindle pin goes into has too much oil or grease in it?

I had a black 4" and a clear 4-1/2" (I think - can't remember 100%) and both had a small movement/wobble.

Zero grease anywhere but the check lever/pawl.

You could contact John Milner as well. He does do repair work on reels that aren't his unless this has changed. I know several people that have sent their Hardy's to him.

I have Don's number but will not post it publicly.  :-X

Nor would I expect you to.
I don't want to bug him about buying or ordering or anything other than this issue, I understand that he does this as a hobby.

Any chance you could contact him and have him contact me?
I can provide you with either my phn# or email

If he does not want to ... fair enough, no prob. I'll either live with it or contact Mr Milner.

Thanks

I know Don well enough to know he would want to know about this and make it right.
