Tidal Fraser River, October 23rd 2010

Today I decided to give coho fishing a break and go back to targeting bull trout and cutthroat trout by either spincasting or fly fishing. The wind was strong but the shallow bays at Garry Point Park are usually calm refuges under this condition. Water clarity was great, so I was pretty confident that there would be some fish.

That was not the case for this afternoon. After covering all spots twice, I was only able to connect with a cutthroat trout. It was a hatchery marked fish but I sent it back anyway. Some days you can come down and catch bull trout on the first or second casts. On other days, like today, they are simply not there.
