Anyone know if there is a commercial opening today? I saw quite a few boats on east side of golden ears bridge with nets out.
-
I would say a mass of boats with nets out would indicate yes, there is an opening. 24hr opening until 8am tomorrow....
-
What areas? Is it just in the maple ridge stretch? Just trying to figure out when it will be dead in chilliwack, and for how long.
-
As Dereke said, there is a 24 hour opening today. Also there will be another one on Wednesday.

Where do you see the info about Wednesday?

That's just from a friend who is first mate on a commie boat. He hasn't been wrong yet about the openings.
-
fishing was slow this morning in hope.
-
Another opening on Wednesday.... :o >:(
Gunna make for a sloooooooow long weekend.
-
Global BC News last night also mentioned a Wednesday opening. I guess Saturday fishing will be poor. Also the Pattullo Bridge is closed this weekend, for those of us that use it.
-
Area E gillnet Wednesday 8 am to 8 pm.
-
36 hours of openings in 2 1/2 days. Complete joke. Nothing will get through until at least Saturday sometime.

Keeping a running total of sockeye bonked, now that is a complete joke! Guess you should have not given your 10 socks away!
-
Why is anyone surprised? Socks are a commercial first fish. Been that way forever, just enjoy the fact you can go out and snag a few...

Am I the only one here that understands how bycatch works. In 2012 there was virtually no commercial fishing on Fraser River stocks. Guess what? I had one of the best seasons ever for early Vedder coho and spring jacks (late aug/early sept).
In 2010, the commercial guys raped the river like there was no tomorrow just like they are doing this year...Guess what, the Vedder was basically void of fish until around Sept 15th. If you guys can't put 2 and 2 together, perhaps you should stay out of these discussions.

Robert this is a Sockeye discussion and you mentioned nothing about by-catch for fishing the Vedder, I'm not a mind reader. I sure am glad my simple ways are being enlightened by your never ending knowledge on the subject, please continue.

If there is a big by catch of coho the fishery would be closed immediately. In 2010 we had 120 hours to fish in approx 8 days. This months openings has been the first in almost 4 years.. We all love the sport but people have to make a living too.
