Anyone know if the Nation will place a similar restriction on access to the Sqaumish River through Kowtain IR 17 (which is further south, where the rail line crosses Gov road)?

Please make sure read your freshwater regulations,  D.F.O opening and closings then the  supplement then read the supplement about First Nations closures. Manuals will be handed out periodically at Canadian Tire.

There's local politics that has some effect on this situation-always is.

Just north of the reserve is a large chunk of privately owned land that's slated for development-the latest plan for that land was just turned down by the municipality but it'll be back in one form or another you can bet your boots on that since it's come up 5 times already (!)

You can read all about it by clicking here

So the natives are feeling the pressure in many ways especially since they have their own extensive plans for development in/around Squamish, how much will come to fruition and how much is vaporware well who knows.

Interesting times ahead....

Done. The sign is up and posted and looks just like the other sign at Fisherman's Entrance in Brackendale.
