lovetofish the only thing you probably snagged is some dudes tuff line using such heavy line for sockey is one of the reasons there are so many snaggs .  Playing a fish in the river is fun and challenging so what if you lose a few to snags better than filling the water with 60 lb line cutter everywhere.

Carpenter you are probably right. There is likely to be a stump or something there, and it is just building up with line and gear.
I don't worry about losing a few leaders or fish for that matter. It happens.
 The challenge of landing the fish is all part of the fun. I hope we can hook into a spring or two as it is a lot of fun and a challenge to control the fish and the boat as you are floating downstream trying to avoid shallows and netting the fish.
