Title: Sasquatch Lakes
Post by: Apennock on May 17, 2017, 03:50:01 PM
It's looks like I'll have an unexpected gap in my schedule this weekend and I was thinking I would load up my kayak and fly rod and head up to either Hicks or Deer Lake.

Just curious as to people preferences between the two?

Also, I've never fished either so fly recommendations would also be much appreciated.

Both lakes are fun to fish, but deer lake is less heavily fished IMHO.

That being said, Trout lake is fun to fish and is rarely fished (from what i have seen), and is worth fishing IMHO

I've heard that little spot can be pretty fishy.I guess I'll have to take out the fishcat and give it a whirl.

Deer Lake has a high abundance of cutthroat trout but they are all small, as well as some catchable rainbow trout. It's a good lake to bring kids to because you'd get lots of bites easily. Hicks has more variety, small fish, bigger fish, different species, that's where I'd go if you are fishing alone.
