Title: Wicked Tuna tv show.
Post by: arimaBOATER on December 15, 2013, 05:53:11 PM
Lots of real to life tv programs out there.
Guess it started with Survivor, Dancing With The Stars American Idol & 60 Minutes & on ...till now their is a landslide of them.
All fingers & toes makes 20 in # nevertheless there are far more than that with a Duck Dynasty Gold Rush Airplane Repo & the army of others.

One program that has gotten my interest is Wicked Tuna.
One guy has a skin problem on his face & is a very grumpy type.
Lots deck hands last no more than a season with this captain.
He's got a temper & watch out if a boat gets too close for comfort where he's anchored.

Some new young guys "on the block" got into blue fin tuna fishing & as a joke decided to pass by the grumpy guy's boat & throw balloons filled with water.
Guess they thought it would be taken as a fun thing to do.
Well at the dock the grumpy guy pushed the guy ( capt of the other boat that was in on the balloon thing hard & he went flying.)

Tuna.com named boat has 3 guys on board & they pride themselves to catch more tuna than everyone else.
Another boat has 2 guys & the capt. smokes cigarettes like crazy.
His boat also breaks down a lot.
Another boat has an older captain on board & he some times brings his wife.
This boat seems to have lost a lot a tuna because of a bent hook or the line breaks.
Once his helper is battling a fish for over an hour only for the capt to hit the line with the harpoon when the tuna was close to the boat.
The helper started screaming for 60 secs with a rage of swear words.
These fish can net $2500 to $10,000 or more depending on the size & fat content & red color of the flesh.
$8 to even $24 lb these guys get from the buyer.

Many of you I'm sure know about the show.
It sure has gotten me addicted.

As Rodney's link is telling a pt. of view that many reality tv shows are just bad viewing & wasted time.
Have to agree that many real to life programs " are not my cup of tea " nevertheless a % of them are 1000 x more interesting than the crap from Hollywood.
Or 100,000 x more interesting than a soap opera.
You know the one's "As the world turns" "the edge of night"

Even PBS has programs that they would have to pay me to watch.
As far as Wicked Tuna goes if one likes the sea or boating or fishing than it has appeal.
The joy of landing a fish & the sadness of not.
One boat comes into the harbour with 1-2-3 tunas & another boat comes in with zero.
The feelings that comes across is the price of admission.
One crew looks like they won the 6/49 & other guys have long faces & have sad shifty eyes.

Mind you back in the 1960's ya had a choice of 4-5 tv channels.
Today with 100's of tv channels & also web choices the selection what to listen to or watch is near endless.
It's 7 pm & by the time ya stroll & finally choose something it's now 7:10.
( 10 minutes to check out what's out there on one's service provider's offerings. )

Pink Floyd - Nobody Home "I got thirteen channels of s**t on the T.V. to choose from".
I have nearly a hundred channels and often have a hard time finding something worth keeping it on for. Thank God for YouTube and Rods fishing vids!
