I took a trip up to the Indian Arm yesterday with Lucky, we got on the water at about 1:00 and went out to drop the crab traps. Within around 45 we checked them and didn't have much luck besides alot of Red Rock that we through back. After a few more drop+pick-ups we soon realized that tossing those Red Rocks was a bad decision seeing as how we weren't getting much of anything besides giant startfish >:(. After doing our majority of crabbing we decided to look around for some flounder. I soon found out how much fun catching flounder really was, especially on really light gear! At the end of the day we had 7 crabs in the bucket and just about our limit of flounder :o! Thanks for the trip, Lucky

-
Thanx for the report Lil !! Ummmmm, Crabs!!! I gotta get out and get me some!! Maybe some flounder as well!! ;) ;D
-
Yes there all very good eatin'!
How has your fishing been latley, Big Steel?
-
Besides Kokanee last weekend, I haven't fought a fish in over 2 months!!!! ::) I am gettin a bit restless!! But I will fix that next weekend, I am not leaving until I hook into at least a couple sturgies!!! ;D ;D
-
Haha ya well this month isn't the best month for fish but it's going to pick up.
I to havn't really fought any fish besides some soul yesterday. Hope to start fishing alot more!
You planning on fishing from boat or shore for sturgeon?
-
I fish for them from shore!! :o I think I even told you where!! But that was a while back!! You are welcome to join me though!! ;) Should be able to get into some. If you don't have the gear for them, then after the first one I get, then it could be whoever sees the rod go off first gets it!! I don't usually pay that close of attention to it!! :o ;D
-
Well if its alright with you, I would love to tag along sometime.
I have never been sturgeon fishing or even seen one in the wild so it could be a nifty expereince.lol.
I do have a bar fishing rod but a sturg might ruin it, and I have that big thick spinning rod.
But I am not really sure on what to use.
-
Well, some guys use biga$$ spinning rods, if that helps you out at all!!! I'll let you know, I will be out there maybe on Saturday!! ;)
-
Alright well thats what I got! What kinda line do you use?
-
80lb tuff line with a 50lb dacron leader!!
-
Hmm I will have to do some research on that, becuase I think the only kind of line I have close to that is the rope tied to my crab traps, lol.
-
40lb Mono would work ok as well!! I have plenty of leader line, so I wouldn't worry about that!! You will need some bigger weights though, I use between 6 once and 10 once pyramids, depending on the tide!! ;)
-
Ok well thats ok becuase im heading over to Army&Navy today to pick up some other bar fishing tackle.Anything else?
-
Big hooks, at least 6/0!! ;) Maybe we could try some Barfishing, then when the tide is right, head up for some sturgy action!! Or the other way around, it all depends on what the tide will be doing!! ;D
-
Ok will do. And for me... any kind of fishing is fun. So whatever the tides be, im in!
-
Any fishing is awsome...I agree
-
Absolutley!
And BS, I just got back from Army&Navy and grabbed some 6/0 octopus hooks and some pyramids.
