Title: Winter Harbour, June 23th - 25th 2011
Post by: VAGAbond on July 02, 2011, 05:31:55 PM
Day 1 started with a 75 lb halibut.   A while later with four of us fishing we hooked four large halibut at one time.    One line broke off a big one, due probably to inattention to wear.   A 36 lb fish was landed and the other two, both large, got hopelessly tangled.    Another line broke (80 lb. test) and the final fish was landed, 110 lb.

Lots of coho along the surf line but no Chinook.    For day 3 we went way out and picked up a limit of medium size chinook, 18 to 21 lb.

Our guide was just off commercial trolling south from Quatsino to Kyuquot.   He reports the best Chinook fishing in years with tons of coho and even pinks and chum showing.
