About Us
Fishing
is one of the oldest recreational activities known to man. In the
old days, fishing was a way to make a living. Today, it is one of
the most popular outdoor activities around the world. Fishing is
not only fun, but it relaxes you. A kid who fishes will develop
patience, respect and tolerance.
FWR Youth Fishing Camp is based in the Greater Vancouver region.
It is made of several young individuals who are committed to promote
sportfishing and conservation. We hope to introduce this fun and
simple activity to today's youth who have often become distant from
nature.
At
FWR Youth Fishing Camp, our objectives are very simple. We want
to educate our youth about the beauty of nature, stimulate their
mind with problem solving tasks, encourage them to participate in
team work and outdoor activities, and most importantly, have fun.
Sportfishing can be very beneficial to a child. It can build up
a child's self-esteem by accomplishing difficult tasks, expanding
his or her knowledge in biology and other scientific fields, creating
a healthy lifestyle and introducing a great activity that can be
shared between family members.
From
June to September, we offer an introductory class called Understanding
Fraser Estuary. This is very popular for those who have never fished
or touched a fish before. We guide our students very carefully throughout
the entire sessions. By the end of each session, students will be
able to fish own their own, and identify major fish species in the
Fraser River.
In October and November, we offer Introductory Salmon Fishing.
Students who have attended our Understanding Fraser Estuary session
are encouraged to participate in these sessions. We will be searching
for several different salmon species in the Fraser River.
