Beginner Fly Tying: March 6th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm

Learn the basics. Identify tools and their use; how to start thread, half hitch, whip finish, tie off materials and basic fly construction. This class is aimed at the novice tyer with little or no experience. We will tie 2 patterns and walk thru slowly step by step. ALL MATERIALS WILL BE SUPPLIED. Bring your own tools (vise, scissors, thread etc)
Intruder Steelhead Flies: March 13th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Cost: $5.00

Please join Rob Haliday for a fun afternoon as he demonstrates how to tie these beautiful steelhead patterns. Rob has tied hundreds of these beautiful flies and knows exactly what goes into building an Intruder that Steelhead can’t resist. You are more than welcome to tie a pattern with Rob and he will walk you thru the fly step by step. Please bring your vise, tools and the following materials. You may substitute materials of your choice.
- 25mm Waddington shanks or Mustad #34011 streamer hooks with straight eye
- 20 to 30 pound fire line for “stinger” and DNE #2 hook
- Yak hair for tail
- Dubbing (rear bump)
- Spey hackle
- Lady Amherst tail
- Ostrich herl
- Pearl braid or small chenille for body
- Schlappen or guinea or pheasant rump for the collar
- Bead chain or lead eyes
- Long saddle hackle
ALL THESE MATERIALS WILL BE COLOURS OF YOUR CHOICE. Bring these materials from home or purchase from the shop. This class will give you a chance to see how to construct an Intruder. You must be at least an intermediate to advanced tyer.
Intermediate Fly Tying: March 20th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
