Cutthroat opportunities throughout BC with Tom Johannesen

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Rodney Hsu, webmaster

Hatch Match’r Fly and Tackle is very privileged to have nabbed one of the best known fishing personalities in British Columbia.

Tom has been an avid fly-tier and fly-fisherman in beautiful British Columbia for over thirty years. Writing and guest-hosting fishing programs for television have been part of the interests that fuel Tom’s passion. To date, well over one hundred of Tom’s articles have been published in Canadian outdoor magazines including BC Sport Fishing, BC Outdoors, Outdoor Edge, Canadian Fly Fisher, Home Waters, Reel Angler and Island Fisherman. Excursions and writing assignments began on the lower mainland and have since taken Tom throughout British Columbia in search of new and more exciting fisheries to photograph and write about. Writing on specific techniques and aquatic life helps the readers better understand the many mysteries involved in becoming an avid fly-fisherman.  Over the years Tom’s interest in still photography has excelled greatly, and he enjoys heading out on a fishing trip in search of quality photos to accompany his articles.  Over the past ten years Tom has been guest speaker at numerous fly clubs, schools and outdoor events on the Lower Mainland and always enjoys sharing his experiences in the world of fly-fishing with kids and anyone else that has an interest in the sport he loves.

The presentation will cover the following:

  • Gear for specific locations
  • Fly selection for any and all water conditions
  • Productive times and locations to find cutthroat trout
  • Type of fishing being covered includes beach fishing for Sea-runs and fly-fishing, back waters, lakes and rivers
  • Open floor to answer any questions the guests may have

This presentation will teach the angler everything he or she needs to know about locating Cutthroat trout throughout BC. Better yet it will also explain in detail how to catch them once they are located.
