Warming up for the annual Boxing Day Steelhead Derby
Posted on December 18th, 2008 by Rodney Hsu, webmaster

While Lower Mainlanders continue to experience sub-zero temperatures and white-out conditions, avid steelhead anglers are warming up for 2008's Boxing Day Steelhead Derby on the Chilliwack River.

This annual tradition is organized by the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club. Derby tickets are $25.00 each (or $15.00 for Chilliwack Fish & Game Club Members, juniors who are 17 or under and seniors who are over 65).

Tickets can be purchased at the following locations prior to derby day:

Tickets can also be purchased on derby day at the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club House before 10:00am.

On December 26th, the derby will begin at 6:30am. Be sure to have your derby card punched before you start fishing. Three punch stations can be found on derby day:

  • Lickman Road between 6:30am to 8:30am
  • Tamahi Bridge between 6:30am to 8:30am
  • The Club House between 6:30am to 10:00am

Derby rules and prize list can be found in this document or this thread in our discussion forum.

Good luck to all anglers who brave the cold on December 26th!
