| Nominate 2008's BC endangered rivers | ||||||||||

The Outdoor Recreation Council (ORC) is requesting public submissions for BC's Endangered Rivers List. Compilation of the list will commence in early January so please send your candidate rivers to ORC Rivers Chair Mark Angelo, at mangelo@bcit.ca. The 2008 list will once again feature British Columbia's "top ten" endangered rivers, helping to focus media attention on the various threats confronting our waterways. The annual BC list is based on thousands of responses from both organizations and individuals - and extensive input is provided from those who use and recreate on rivers as well as those who manage them. The list helps to promote key river issues while increasing public awareness of human impacts. Nominations should include the name of the river, along with a description of the threats confronting it. The new list will be released in April, 2008. Details of last year's 2007 listing, which received a great deal of media attention, can be found on ORC's website.
