Following discussions with the City of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley Regional District, it has been decided to have only three cleanuChilliwack River Cleanups during 2008 rather than the usual four. As a result, there will be no January activity, at least for this coming year.
 
The 2008 cleanup dates have been set and they are:

• April 5th - from the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
• July 12th - from the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
• September 28th - from the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club

The decision to cancel the January cleanup was based mainly on the possibility of inclement weather at that time of year. One of our main objectives is to ensure that volunteers are working in safe conditions and the chance of poor conditions in January is quite good. You will recall that we cancelled the January cleanup last year due to poor weather conditions. Your support is valued and appreciated. During the three 2007 cleanups a total of 9.05 tons of garbage was collected by 506 volunteers. These figures are quite impressive. You are making a significant difference in protecting the environment of this valuable area.
