SEHAB Public Forum, October 26th, 2007
Posted on October 11th, 2007 by Rodney Hsu, webmaster
SEHAB (Salmon Enhancement and Habitat Advisory Board), in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, will host a public Forum on Friday October 26th, titled “Making a Difference - The Changing Role of the Community Advisor”. Forum venue is the Holiday Inn in Victoria, 3020 Blanshard Street. The workshop will begin at 7:00pm.
This Forum answers Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s request for input from volunteer stewards for its current review of the Community Involvement Program, including the Community Advisor’s role and responsibilities. Please forward this information to the volunteer organizations that you represent. To participate, the individual or organization must be engaged in a volunteer project supported by your Community Advisor (Examples are strategic enhancement, restoration, public awareness or education).
You will also participate as a SEHAB member representing your volunteer constituents. SEHAB invites all Community Advisors to attend as observers.
Concurrently, SEHAB will post the same Forum questions at http://www.sehab.org so that those who cannot attend will have the opportunity to provide input, and will collate website responses with the Forum data.
DFO will integrate the product of the Forum and website responses into the data collection phase of the review process, toward the establishment of Program priorities. This Forum will provide a snapshot of volunteer activities and priorities, and is not intended to be definitive for the Program.
It is important that you attend the Forum with a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the ways that your CA supports volunteer projects in your community. You will represent their interests in this workshop.
To register, interested parties should contact SEHAB member Don Lowen at (250) 388-4756 or h2oship@shaw.ca. Registration deadline is October 19th. Seating is limited.
