Chilliwack River Pink Salmon Egg-take
Posted on September 24th, 2007 by Rodney Hsu, webmaster
The Seymour Salmon Hatchery will be starting our Chilliwack River pink salmon egg takes on this Wednesday (September 26th), which is a week earlier than anticipated. This will be one of many dates in the coming weeks. The hatchery's pink salmon egg take quota this year is 2 million.
If you are available to help out, this is a full day committment. Volunteers will meet at the Rice Lake Gate in North Vancouver at 7:00am and should be back no later than 5:00pm. Please be prepared for the weather and conditions. Lunch, extra change of clothes and if you have a pair of waders, please bring them. Don't worry if you don't, the hatchery can supply them for you.
Please contact James Weger as soon as possible to arrange rides up to the egg take site on the Chilliwack River.
Also, there is the possibilitly of heading up this Thursday and Friday, but the hatchery will not know until Wednesday to see how the run is doing.
